ANALISE’S POV

“Thanks.” I replied as he smiled at my small figure, shaking from the cold.

“So what do I owe you?” He asked, breaking the silence.

“Hm… When I find out, you’ll be the one to know.” I told him as I snuggled up in the jacket, clutching the inside of it – thankful for it’s warmth… and strange enough the lingering smell coming off the jacket that somehow comforted me.

“You alright there?” he asked, laughling lightly as he tucked his hands into the pockets of his fitted trackpants [alright just hold up for a second – but how good would Matt look in fitted trackies. LIKE AHH!].

“It smells good alright, leave me alone.” I replied back slightly embarrased, but felt the strange feeling of a smile growing on my face as he threw his hands up in surrender.

“So, I actually wanted to say something. I didn’t follow you for no reason.” I finally brought up, looking nervously up to meet his gaze.

It made me feel so nervous inside, like my stomach was doing backflips and cartwheels or whatever shit you call it – it certainly wasn’t anything I could do in real life.

Alright Ana, no backing out now – get it over and done with. Don’t change the subject!’ I mentally scolded myself as I tried to think of the words to say without freezing like an idiot.

“Oh, yeah. Um shoot…” He replied easily. Since when was this boy so open? – it was making this so much harder.

“Actually you know what? C-can we go for a walk?” I jumped up, properly slipping on Matthew’s jacket till my arms were happily hidden in warmth.

“Uh sure why not?” He agreed monotonally and straightening out his sweater.

“Let’s go.” He announced as we began to walk side by side, while we both awkwardly kept our hands hidden form each others’.

MATTHEW’S POV

She wants to go… for a walk?’ my brain processed. I mean the thought wasn’t weird – C’mon two teenagers can walk around whenever they want.

But she was Ana. I was me. Usually it’s us ignoring each other.

“Let’s go.” I agreed and decided to go along wth it; it was better than staying in and being locked out of my own hotel room because Carter’s all emo.

“So…” I piped up, finally breaking the silence. I had enough of the silence – why couldn’t we hava a normal and conventioanl conversation like everyone else?

Oh wait – like I said, it was us. One of us being a schiznophreniac with a fricken phobia for life, then there’s her; Nash’s sister. Now that  think of it, that was all I really knew about her.

“So…” She replied as equally thrown off, keeping her focus straight ahead.

“Um, didn’t you want to like tell me something?” I reminded her, laughing to myself as she seemed to forget things reasily.

“Oh yeah, right – So, I just wanted to know… did I ever do something to upset you? Or make you hate me?” she asked nervously, kicking the small pebbles at her feet to probably keep her eyes form anything but me.

“What makes you think I hate you?” I asked. But I knew clearly that I gave off that impression – I just put that on because I thought she hated me.

“Well you basically did just run away from me, and when I finally caught up, you were shaking, and sweating.” She told me as she laughed to herself, her dimples deepening and little wisps of hair flying from her loose ponytail.

“True.” I said as I joined in on the laughter. I couldn’t help but think that not even an hour  ago I was running away from her to avoid exactly this. But it’s actually not that bad… I guess.

“I…” I sighed, trying to find the right words without coming off as a jerk and ruining this rare good streak I have with her. “You just really remind me of someone that I used to know, and they kind of left me – out of nowhere. So I just didn’t want to get close or anything. You guys look really alike.” I mumbled, traling off.

“Oh, so it wasn’t exactly me that did anything?” She asked innocently.

I replied by just shaking my head and throwing the hood of my jumper over my head – some kind of barrier was needed. Farrout, I’m so introvertive when it comes to this girl.

“Well that’s good. Because I was wondering…”

“What?” I interrupted, eager to hear what she was going to say.

“What are we?” She threw out all at once.

“Isn’t it usually couples that as-”

“Okay, okay, okay – I mean what are we? Friends, enemies, ex-roomates?” She explained, getting so caught up in it that she almost tripped over her own two feet.

“Ex-roo-” I asked with a sarcastic tone.

“A real answer would be nice.”She intterupted, stopping where we were and crossing her arms in frustration – there we go. That’s the Analise I was used to.

“I don’t know actually.” I thought outloud.

“Well, I was thinking that maybe we could try friends? – I mean it would be cool not having to ignore one of my brother’s close friends.” She trailed off.

“Yeah, I guess it would.” I agreed as she nodded in approval.

“Wow, I feel like a whole new guy!” I exaggerated, acting all flattered and even jumping in the air with enthuaism, making me double over in laughter.

“Well you should.” Ana replied in between small fits of laughter. “You should.”
