CAMERON’S POV

“Are you sure?”  Nash spoke quietly.

Why was he acting all shifty and sneaking out of our room to check up on Ana? Well then again, why was I being shady and feeling the need to eavesdrop from the door? I’m really not sure actually…

“Yeah, yeah… I’m not feeling too well.” She replied.

“Li-” He said worriedly, but she interrupted him.

“It’s okay, I’ll be fine. There just symptoms.” She explained.

“After MAGCON, we’re going to your appointment. Kay?” He informed.

All I could hear was silence, so I’m guessing she probably just nodded.

I wonder what they were talking about, and why they were so secretive. Was Ana sick? Most likely, I mean she had been pretty down for the last couple of days, but she insisted to tag along to MAGCON anyway.

As soon as I heard the footsteps heading towards the door, I ran for the closest hiding spot – Ana’s bathroom. I quickly jumped in the tub and ducked.

Shit!’ I thought to myself. I had forgotten to turn the light off. Great hiding spot Cam, Nash will never find us in the only full lit room in the suite!

As I continued to tell myself off in my head, he walked past.

“Cam?” He asked.

“Um heeyy Nash….”  I replied nervously.

“Wh-? Never mind…” He replied and dismissed the thought.

Thank goodness.

. . .

“Yeah I’ll be back soon. I’m just going to take Ana out shopping, you know, some quality ‘brother-sister’ time.” He lied as we got back to the hotel.

“Ready Nash.” Ana piped up, walking out of her room.

I honestly don’t even understand why she would need to go to the doctor’s; it looks like her ‘cold’ vanished days ago.

NASH’S POV

We sat quietly on the empty bus, but the silence was killing me.

“Are you alright?” I asked her. She seemed out of it.

“Mhm.” She simply replied, and continued to stare out the window with a blank face, despite the fact that her hands were shaking slightly.

“Thanks.” I told the bus driver as we got off around the corner from Analise’s therapist.

“Hi Analise, I’m Dr Emmett. How are you feeling today?”  The middle aged man asked as we got settled into his small workspace.

“Um yeah I’ve been alright.” She mumbled, staring at her hands on her lap.

“That’s good. So how have you been feeling since diagnosis?” He queried while checking some papers. Probably her medical history passed on from our usual GP.

“I’ve been alright – just a little light headed and I’ve had a sore throat and a small cough, but that’s about it.”

“Okay, well we’re just going to run a few quick tests to make sure you’re doing okay inside there.” He chuckled lightly and poked her rib.

“Um doctor, out of curiosity, what exactly are these tests?” I interfered. I wanted to know what he was doing before he made any major decisions.

“I’m taking you’re Analise’s brother?”

“Yeah. I’m looking after her at the moment.” I replied.

“Well, we will be running a quick biopsy and a few CT scans just to make sure she’s in good shape, or if she needs to undergo extra treatment.” He replied, leading Ana to the testing rooms.

They finally came back, and Lise looked fine. I swear this whole appointment was worrying me. I didn’t know what to do if this was worse than before. We barely coped… She barely survived.

“Alright we’re done – you can have a seat Analise.” The doctor guided her back to the uncomfortable seats in front of his desk.

“Mr Grier, I’d like to show you something.” I got up from my seat, wishing and pleading with all my might that this was good news - That somehow, this burden had faded away.
