'How to Save a Life' - The Fray

. . .

ANALISE’S POV

“Nothing has, will or can ever hurt like this.”

I watched as he stormed out of the room, quickening his pace as to get as far away from me as he could - my own bestfriend hated me. That seemed like the only thing I could comprehend.

I knew he liked me. I mean, he kissed me afterall.

Yet here I was, going out with both mine, and his bestfriends. I’ve completely ruined two friendships.

He chased after me.

“Oh my god.” I whispered to myself as I dashed out of the room, not caring of the consequences. All I needed was to talk to Matthew. I wouldn’t let him go that easily.

This time, I’d chase him.

. . .

Running out of the lift, I scanned the half empty lobby, feeling my head whirl around and the room spinning.

But being me, I didn’t care. I pushed through the revolving glass door, sending it spinning as I ran out, staggering for a moment.

“Please don’t be far.” I prayed to myself as I ran down the streets – this boy that I needed so desperately in my life nowhere to be seen.

“Come on Matt!” I whined, trying not to let my emotions escape me. He was clearly upset. He was fucking furious.

“Matt he-” I exclaimed into my phone, pressing the cold glass screen hard against my ear, my excitement building at the sound of his voice.

“Hey it’s Matchu – leave your name, number and message after the beep – beep!

With a sigh, I ran a hand frustradely through my hair and exhaled, wondering why I had called in the first place – I didn’t even know what to say.

Was there even any way to make up for this. I was so oblivious that I completely zoned out.

“Matt! Matt hey it’s me- it’s me Analise. I need to talk to you – I just don’t know what to do. I feel li-” Hearing the computerised voice, I realised it had cut me off – the message finishing mid-sentence. Looking down at my phone, I tapped my foot impatiently as the screen loaded, the caller ID blinking until the white printed ‘Matty’ blinked and fell from the screen, bringing me back to my recent calls.

“Ugh!” I squealed, earning looks from bypassers as I stormed over to a bench, sitting tucked up with my legs resting on my knees as the screen loaded.

“Matthew!” I sighed as the call finally connected, hearing his muffled breathing on the line.

“Matthew I know you don’t want to talk to me… I wouldn’t if I were y-”

“You got that right.” He grumbled under his breath. Something I probably wasn’t meant to hear.

“I just need you to know that I need you in my life! You’re my best friend an-”

“See that’s where you don’t need me Ana.” He replied strangley, sounding somewhat restricted. “You don’t need me because you got Cameron to be your best friend and boyfriend all in one.”
