CAN WE DO 40K BEFORE CHAPTER 40? I THINK SOOOO

Song for the chapter:

‘Youth’ - Daughter

. . .

MATTHEW’S POV

“Hey – where’d you go?”Shawn asked as he sat propped on a stool  in front of the counter, tapping on his phone intently.

“I was just out.” I mumbled through gritted teeth; replayng the words that played on his mouth with a smirk.

‘We’re on a date’

“So… I bumped into Cam and Ana on the way in.” I piped up after not receiving any response earlier.

“Yeah they’re on a date.” Jack teased while fluttering his eyes shut and making ‘kissy’ faces.

“Hey Nash, what happened to off limits huh?” The other Jack chimed while hitting Nash on the back, making him drop his phone onto the polished wooden flooring.

“She likes Cameron, and he likes her. I trust him to look after her.” He explained, looking discreetly over in my  direction as the sentence came to a halt.

“Well I’m cut.” Taylor shouted, looking up from his phone in mock horror.

“The only one?” I dared.

“You betcha.” Nash replied with a wink, retrieving his phone which had slid across onto the carpet, as he and went back to whatever he was doing.

“Hm.” I was all I said before flashing a fake smile back at Nash, fiddling with my phone in my pocket before bringing it out, deciding on texting Carter.

-

I’m finding her – Matt

I don’t care if it’s stupid, I just need to find her

And do what? – Carter

Remember what happened when you told her?

Idc. When I figure out what I’m gonna do, I’ll tell you

Do you even know where they are?

Shit

Wait, do you know?

Yeah

You going to tell me?

No

PLEASE! Don’t be a dick :(

Fine let’s go

-

“Hey I’m gonna head downstairs for a… walk. Wanna come Matt?” He shouted from across the room while he gathered his belongings.

Real smooth.

“Yeah let’s go.”

“Wait didn’t you just come back from a walk or something?” Aaron laughed as we were headed out the door.

“Well maybe he wants to go for another!” Carter screamed from the hallway as he mashed on the lift’s button, looking over to me with a blunt glare realising that I had other plans of how to get downstairs.

“Run.”

I nodded, taking his orders and pushed open the fire exit doors, beginning my ‘thirty-something flight of stairs daily marathon’, for the second time today.
