MATTHEW’S POV
Now I understand why I had held out on my feelings for this girl, for so long - because I knew it just wouldn’t work out.
I didn’t know whether to go out and punch a wall or cry. All I did know was that I felt completely and utterly stupid; I should’ve seen this coming.
He was always a step ahead of me when it came to Lise.
“M-Mathew…” She stuttered, looking at me with concern.
‘Don’t let her see.’ I told myself as I bit my lip, trying to hold in my tears.
“Matthew say something.” She whispered, reaching out and placing her warm hand on top of mine. Her touch was enough to send me crazy – she can’t do this to me. I slid my hand from underneath her warm touch and slid it back into my pockets.
“I-I’m sorry… This was all a big mistake.” I rushed out, finding myself looking everywhere around the room except for her gaze.
“Matthew, talk t-”
“There’s nothing to talk about.” I stated, pursing my lips into a fine line. “It was obviously a mistake, and now it’s over. All good?”
“Matt-”
“We’d better get back to the rest of them before they start to worry.” I suggested, as I walked out of the room without her.
CAMERON’S POV
“Are you sure that she texted you?” I asked for what seemed like the fifth time. They’d been gone for what - around forty-five minutes?
I was pretty sure that our hotel was around the corner, and then down the street from this place - so yeah, I’m worried. I just don’t trust him alone with her. He’s unstable; he’s basically a walking nut.
“Cameron chill. Here, read it.” Nash tried to calm me as he slid his phone across the table.
Here in the hotel now. Don’t worry, I’ll be back in 5 minutes – xx A
“She sent this ten minutes ago.” I commented; my anixety growing as I tapped my foot on the ground uncontrollably.
“Cam – calm down; she has her phone with her – Matt’s there to protect her.” Aaron told me, as he patted my back.
I almost cringed at that sentence. If the fact that Matthew and Ana alone was meant to comfort me, then my friends must’ve been dillusional.
“Sounds like someone’s got a little crush.” Taylor teased, making kissy faces from across the table.
I looked over at Nash who didn’t seem that bothered – I figured he already knew I liked his sister. I basically asked for his permission to hang out with her; he gets the jist.
“She’s not available to any of you.” Nash smirked, giving me this look from the corner of his eye.
I couldn’t help but feel like I was off the hook – I mean, who better to date and protect his baby sister, than his best friend.
Definitely not Matthew.
“Hey! Look who’s back, Cameron?” Taylor exclaimed, jumping out of his seat in excitement.
