CAMERON’S POV

“Dude, why are you avoiding Matt? Every time he’s around you, you disappear and don’t come back for like two hours.” Nash questioned as we helped pack up the last of Mahogany’s set, before we start up again for the first MAGCON in Atlanta.

“I-I’m not.” I said sheepishly.

“C’mon. I’m your best friend, you can tell me. I thought you and Matty were tight?” He asked.

“We are. I’ve just been feeling a little umm… sick! Yeah I’ve been feeling a little low lately.” I answered quickly, almost struggling to make up an excuse.

“Camer-”

“I told you. I’ve haven’t been 100% lately okay? Just leave it alone.” I agitatedly replied.

I couldn’t tell him why I was mad at Matt. I mean, Matthew basically just told me that the girl I’ve been crushing on for the last two weeks, a.k.a Nash's 'off-limits' little sister, asked to sleep beside Matt. In his bed; not Nash’s, not Hayes’, not even mine – I thought she said I was her closest friend?

I kicked the grey concrete and kept my head hung low because of the thought of Matt being just that little bit more ‘closer’ to Ana than I could be.

. . .

“GUYS FIRST ONE TO THE ROOM WINS!” Nash screamed out of nowhere as we walked along the cracked pavement in the cold Autumn weather.

The trail of screams snapped me from my thoughts, bringing me back to reality.

“There you are!” A voice beamed from behind.

I turned around and sure enough it was Ana. Even the sight of her with a slight red nose from the cold, and her lightly curled hair perfectly bouncing against her shoulders… It was enough to make my insides twist and turn with anxiousness.

“Have you been avoiding me?” She asked as I continued to walk silently, ignoring her question.

“Cam are you alright? Did I do something?...” She asked as I continued to remain silent.

‘Of course she stayed with Matt you idiot, and she will continue to if you don’t speak up!’ I scolded myself.

“You know what? Never mind.” She said as she began to walk a faster pace trying to get away from me.

I grabbed her shoulder, turning her around immediately as our eyes finally met each other’s.

“Did I do something?” She repeated quietly, not breaking eye contact.

“You could never do anything to make me mad.” I whispered and laughed at the thought. I could never be upset at her; she wasn’t the kind of person to do anything to upset me… to upset anyone really.

“Then what is it?” She asked shyly while tucking a strand of loose hair behind her ear.

I sighed, trying to find the right words to describe what was happening in my head. ‘Just skip to the point!’ I nudged myself forward and decided it was the easiest way.

“Do you like Matt?” I asked sheepishly.

“Well I mean he doesn’t even talk to me, but I guess we’re sorta frie-” She replied and smiled when she said ‘friends’ but I cut her off.

“No, I um mean… Are you and him together?”

“No why?” She said, surprisement bulging through her wide eyes.

“Did you sleep wi- I mean like sleep as in lie in bed with not um… the other thing.”

“Did you sleep in bed with Matthew the night of the party?” I corrected myself, seeing as Ana stood there puzzled from my previous words.

“Well ye-”

“Oh.” I cut her off and let my eyes fall back to the ground in disappointment; it was true.

“But only because he was drunk and asked me to stay with him. He kept babbling on about some Victoria girl so I thought I’d help him out. He was pretty wasted.” She explained slowly.

I replayed the words slowly in my head – ‘he was drunk and asked me to stay with him.’

“Wait… So you weren’t the one who asked him to stay?” I went over, just to make sure I got it right.

“What?! Where’d you get that from?” She exclaimed, perplexity all over her face.

“Uh that’s what Matt told me.” I explained, now just as confused as she was.

“I swear that bo- I’ll be right back. I’ll talk with you later ‘kay?” She rushed as she ran off, her voice fading behind her.

MATTHEW’S POV

“Where is he?!” Ana screamed out after rushing through the front door.

“Where’s who?” Taylor asked as he looked up from the TV.

“Matt. We nee-” When I heard that, I stepped out from behind the door way into her view.

“We need to talk. Right now.” She said and stormed off back outside the front door.

ANALISE'S POV

“Well?” I said impatiently as he just stood outside the elevator impatiently.

“I don-”

“Hurry up and get in the bloody lift!” I exclaimed, surprised by my sudden rage.

“Listen, you don’t understand!” He explained carefully.

I laughed to myself and stepped out of the lift doors while it was still open.

I don’t understand?” I questioned and another laugh came tumbling up, confusing Matt.

“Yeah you don’t.” He replied frustratedly.

“What is there to understand?" I began.

“Oh wait! Maybe it’s the fact that you’re spreading rumours about me begging to snuggle up to you at night? Or maybe that you’re giving me whiplash with your sudden hatred towards me and then you asking me to stay with you? Because if that’s what it is, then I seriously don’t understand.”  I spat before storming back to the suite.

And to think I actually enjoyed his presence and listened to him the other night.

To think I happily fell asleep in the warm embrace of someone like Matt – it actually sickened me.
