LOGAN POV

I couldn't sleep. I keep seeing her scars when I shut my eyes. My bed was like needles. No matter who I lied, it was uncomfortable. I decided to get up and maybe do some work to distract my mind.

A couple minutes into my emails, I heard a horrible scream from her room. I didn't know I could cross the room this fast but when I saw her crawled into a ball and shaking, my heart dropped. I scooped her into my arms and held her close. She was cold and so small against my chest.

"I'm here," I whispered. "I promised, Thea. I'm here," I said.

She held onto me tightly.

Damn it.

"Thea," I whispered.

Then her eyes snapped open. She looked at me and her green eyes stabbed me in the heart. I saw only pain and fear in her eyes. She quickly pushed me away and curled into a ball at the corner of the bed.

"You were screaming," I said.

She took a couple deep breath and shut her eyes to collect herself.

"Sorry," she mumbled.

"What was the nightmares about?" I asked. I was curious but a part of me knew what they were. I just didn't want to believe it.

"Nothing," she simply said.

"Thea,-" I started but knew I can't force her to tell me something she wasn't ready to relive herself.

"Get some sleep," I said. "I'll be here scaring the monsters away," I grinned.

"Then you better get your machete," she smiled weakly and slipped under the blankets.

I watched her sleep and it seems crazy but I can't look away. She looked peaceful in her own darkness. Damn, I'm in big trouble.
