Chapter 41

I have now been "engaged" to Will for over a month and we have only seen each other once.
"Hey I will call you when I get home." I said seeing Hotch walking down the hall on a mission
"Garicia has been shot." He said as I gathered my stuff and followed him out to an SUV

"Morgans not answering." I said trying him for the third time since Ive been in the car
"Call the rest of the team." He said pulling into a parking spot
"Emily, Garcia has been shot." I said once she said hello
"I will be right there." She said hanging up
I repeated it to all the team members calling Morgan one more time getting a voice mail again.
"Hotch I will be right back." I said needing some fresh air and to call Will
"Hey darlin." He said picking up right away as the tears came falling automatically
"Darlin." He said as I still havent answered
"JJ answer me." He said a little more harsher
"Shes been shot." I said still crying
"Who?" He asked calmly
"Penelope. Shes our technical analysis." I said trying to calm down more
"Jen calm down sweetie. Do you want me to fly up?" He asked
"Not right now. I want to see where this goes first." I said calming down seeing Emily and Spencer pull up
"I can right away babe you know that." He said sounding worried about me
"I know. I will call you as soon as I can. I love you." I said wishing I was in his arms instead
"I love you too." He said before hanging up and I wiped the tears away

48 Hours later
I stood in the middle of the BAU lowering my gun. My first kill.
"JJ." Hotch said snapping me out of my trans
"Ya." I said shaking my head and focusing on him
"I need your gun and badge." He said with his hand out
"Of course. Protocol." I said putting the safety on and giving it to him
"It was a clean kill. You will be reinstated in a week and a half." He said walking away as I moved to the break area to give my statement
The rest of that night was a blur. I was protecting family I kept telling myself that over and over again on my drive home.
Instantly I got my suite case out and started packing. I walked over to my dresser and put my ring on my left ring finger and felt instantly calm. I sat in my living room on my computer looking up the first flight to New Orleans.
Will called three times before I shut my phone off and went to bed to wake up in five hours and catch a flight.

I arrived in New Orleans at 9:30. Still have not talked to Will since before I shot James. The cab pulled up to his station and I got out walking up to it but stopping half way. The bar down the street was calling me more and I walked to it instead.

It was now 11:30 and I was hammered.
"Hey sweet cheeks I need to cut you off and call you a ride home." The bar tender said giving me a glass of water
"Call my fiancé." I said pushing the water away
"And who is that?" He asked picking up my cell phone that was laying flat in front of me
"Just go to the police station he should be there." I said waving my hand that way
"Is he an officer?" He asked and I shook me head no
"A detective?" He asked
"Bingo buddy." I said laughing and almost falling out of my seat
"Call LaMontange. I think this is his girl." Another bartender yelled to the bar tender in front of me
Not even three minutes later Will was in the bar
"Jennifer?" He asked walking up to me
"William?" I  copied laughing
"What are you doing here?" He asked helping me stand up
"I killed a man." I said before crying
"Shhhh darlin, I got you." He said pulling me in and holding me
"I need to close my tab." I said pulling away to get money out of my purse
"Its on the house." The bar tender said as I pulled a hundred out to pay
"Keep it." I said putting it on the counter before being helped out to Wills truck

"Wanna explain?" Will asked as I sat on the couch starting to sober up some what
"I killed a man." I said in between tears
"Was he an unsub?" He asked sitting next to me and I nodded yes
"Was he your first?" He asked and again I nodded yes
"Babe its ok. I was drunk for four days straight after mine." He said pulling me in
"I have a week and a half before I get reinstated." I said leaning on him
"That means I get you for a week and a half." He said kissing my head
"I missed you." I said cuddling closer and letting my eyes close

"Shes with me Sandy." Will said on the phone in the kitchen
"She had her first kill yesterday. And I guess flew out here this morning." He said back
"I will keep my eye on her. Im going to go in to my boss tomorrow and get two weeks off." He said walking back to the living room and I closed my eyes again
"Im thinking I will take her to the beach. I know how much she loves it." He said lifting my head onto his lap
"I know its cold in Florida and California probably." He said playing with my hair
"Im thinking Hawaii. Its the same temperature year round." He said making my eyes snap open
"I gotta go she just woke up." He said smiling down at me
"Thats to much money Will." I said as he just smiled
"You need a break and I need a break. Lets go on a vacation together." He said kissing my forehead
"Are you sure?" I asked with watery eyes and sitting up
"We have been together for almost a year. My mother loves you. She proved it at Christmas when she was willing to give you her wedding ring my father gave her. JJ lets go on a vacation." He said wiping the tears away and giving me a kiss
"I dont have anything for Hawaii." I said as he started laughing
"New Orleans does have a mall you know." He said laughing as he picked up my left hand and kissing my ring
"I love you." I said looking at him
"I love you too." He said pulling me up and to the bedroom.

So I didnt want to put the whole episode in cause we all should know what happens. It will be lots of fun writing about Hawaii as I get closer to getting to the end of the story. Thanks for reading 💗
