Rachel's POV:
I gasped at the sight in front of me. There was a man, who I presumed was Francis, sitting in the corner of the room against the wall, surrounded by blood. The blood streamed down from his forehead, where a gunshot was visible. His mouth was opened wide and his eyes were completely open, slightly frightening me. I grabbed Kaiden's arm but he pulled away. He walked up to the body slowly and knelt down to see the face clearly. I heard him mutter 'dad' under his breath. He touched the blood with his finger and noticed that it hasn't dried yet, then wiped it off on his pants.
I slowly walked up to him and got low to his level. He pulled out his phone and dialed someone. I heard the phone ring three times before someone on the other line picked up. I was speechless. What do you say or do in this situation?
"Anthony, get over here. Now," he demanded.
"I was already on my way. I'm outside," I heard, "Why? What's going on?"
"Just get over here," Kaiden said before he hung up.
He stayed in the same position staring at his dad as running noises came from the same direction we entered from. Suddenly, a familiar looking man ran over to Kaiden.
"WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED HERE?" He shouted, "FRANCIS," he shook the body, trying to get some sort of response.
"Anthony he's dead. He was dead when I got here," Kaiden spoke.
"Holy shit," Anthony fell to his knees, "Where the hell is everyone else?"
"I don't know. This is what I saw when I got here."
"Those fuckers. They probably did this. They hated him," Anthony jumped to conclusions.
"We can't just leave him here," Kaiden stood up and started pulling the body, moving it from the spot the body was at.
"Kaiden-"
"We. Can't. Just. Leave him here," Kaiden said through his teeth.
Anthony said 'okay' before standing up and walking to the other side of the body, helping Kaiden move it. They struggled considering it was a rather big body, but they managed to move it a couple of feet from the original spot. They set the body down to take a break.
"I'm going to kill whoever did this. I'll hunt them down and take them out when they least expect it. I'll make sure they know I'm the one who killed them," Kaiden growled, startling me slightly.
"Kaiden you don't even know who did this to dad. You can't go around killing everyone you think did," his brother tried to calm him down.
"Why not?"
"Because you're not Francis. You don't kill the innocent. You're not a criminal Kaiden. I won't let you become one now. Now help me pick his body up. You're right, we can't leave it here."
Anthony picked up the body and Kaiden did the same after a couple of seconds. They carried it to the door, which was closed. I ran over and opened it, holding it as they carried him out. I followed them as they carried him down a different hall. Where were they taking him.
"He's heavy," Anthony grunted.
"Yeah," Kaiden grunted back.
They carry him into a room that looked like an office. It was probably his. Once again, I opened the door to make the transition easier. They brought his body to the corner and set him up there. Blood trailed from the body to all the way from the room perhaps.
"Whoever did this is dead," Kaiden said before storming out of the room.
"Shit," Anthony ran a hand down his face.
He turned to face me.
"If he tries to kill anyone while he's with you, stop him. He's reckless."
Anthony then rushed out of the room to what I assumed was chase after Kaiden. I broke out in a run after them, but they ran too fast. I heard the faint shouting of Kaiden's name as they both ran out of the building, leaving me here alone.
I walked around, following the trail of blood for a bit. I made a couple of turns before opening a door at a dead end. I looked around and turned on the lights. I was in the same room that the body was found in, only on the other end. On my left was the same spot Francis's body was found at.
The door across from me at the other end of the room was open. Suddenly, I saw someone pass by, then panic once we made eye contact.
"Oh shit," he muttered before running.
It took me a bit to process what just happened. I heard a door slam and knew that man had left. There was no point in chasing me. He would've outran me.
I slid to the ground. How do you react in this kind of situation? Do I comfort Kaiden? Help him figure out who did this? Should I clean up all this blood for starters?
I stood up and walked around, trying to figure out where to start cleaning.
"Who could have done such a thing?" I asked myself
I looked down at the floor when noticed something near all the blood. I picked up a familiar looking hair tie. I stared at it, trying to figure out where I've seen these specific hair ties before.
Then it hit me. These were the same that Thomas always wore.
Oh no.
