Rachel's POV:
I ran down the hall towards the football field. Jacqueline had texted me that a teacher was standing in front of the door and she didn't want us to get caught leaving the building, which is why she went outside ahead of time. Once I found her on the bleachers, I ran down the field and up the steps. I took a seat next to her."Hey I missed you," she smiled at me as she pulled me in for a tight hug.
"I saw you a period ago," I giggled.
"I know I know," she pulled away before sighing, "It's just been so long. I thought I was never going to see you again."
"I know," I sighed.
"I thought that I lost you forever," she began to cry.
"Stop it," I whimpered.
She wiped her tears as she stared at her feet.
"Jay I'm fine. Look, I'm right in front of you. You didn't lose me."
Jacqueline stared at me, a small smile slowly creeping up her face.
"I'm so glad you're back. I can't imagine what I would have done without you here."
She grabbed my right hand in her left.
"Now for the love of God tell me what happened!" she shouted.
"Okay okay," I laughed.
I told her everything that had happened, starting with the moment I noticed all the missed calls and texts and why Ethan didn't want me to be at that location, the location where the Royal Shadows do all their dirty business. I told her all about my biological father who just so happens to be the man who led the gang that kidnapped me, and explained how my own brother was my kidnapper. I told her all about the fact that I am a Shadow by force and how traumatizing this experience was.
When I finished, I noticed her hands covered her mouth. She stared at me in complete shock and disbelief.
"No way," she gasped, "And you don't plan on telling the police about any of this?"
"No of course not," I stared at her in disbelief, "Why would I do that? How could I do that? My two brothers are members of this gang and my own father is the head of it. How could I just sell them out like that?"
She nodded her head understandingly. I grabbed both of her hands in mine nervously.
"Jay you can't tell anyone, do you understand? I mean it. No one can know about this, okay? No one."
"Okay," Jacqueline attempted to ease my worries.
"Okay? No one Jay, no one."
"I understand Rachel. I won't tell anyone, don't worry."
I sat back in my seat feeling slightly relieved. We stayed outside for most of second period mainly talking about what happened while I was gone.
"My parents let me change my name legally," she shouted.
"What?" I gasped, "They actually agreed to let you change your name?"
She nodded her head excitedly.
"I thought your parents hated the name Jade."
"They did. But then my mom's friend had a baby and she told my mom how much she loves the name Jade, but her husband didn't. They named the baby Jessica instead."
"It sounds like your mom just let you change it because she wants to make her friend jealous," I laughed.
"That's probably why," she giggled.
