Chapter 47: Complicated

Nakasanayan ko na ang tumambay sa rooftop ng lumang fine arts building kapag free time ko sa school, it's a peaceful place for me to think. It was ten in the morning at wala akong ganang pumasok actually sa photography class namin.

I was so bothered about what happened during our excursion-well, actually ever since the news about the engagement of my sister and Zed came out. Nalaman ko na lang na nagkasundo na si Daddy at Mr. Harrison na ipakasal si Pia kay Zed. Pia never listened to our father, she always did the opposite of what he wants kahit na tungkol pa 'yon kay Zed na alam kong mahal parin niya so it really surprised me when I learned about the engagement. At bukod pa doon ay nalaman ko kay Zed na may sakit si Pia which is absurd, as far as I know she's healthy.

Ang hirap talaga basahin ang mood ng kapatid kong 'yon, if that's her way of winning him over she's only making it hard for both of them. Di sana ako mababagabag kung alam kong mahal pa nila ang isa't-isa, Zed is obviously in love with Sophia and just like my sister he never listened to what his father wants him to do, so why the hell did they decided to agree with the engagement?

Kinuha ko ang cellphone ko na nasa bulsa ko at tiningnan kung sino ang tumatawag. It was my sister.

"Hello."

"Kuya where are you?" tanong ni Pia sa kabilang linya.

"I'm at school. Why?"

"Mukhang wala ka namang pasok, samahan mo na lang ako mag-shopping. Malapit na ang official engagement naming ni Zed I need a lot of stuff you know. Sunduin mo ko sa condo ko."

Napabuntong hininga na lang ako. "Okay, wait for me there."

Maybe I really need to talk to her about this matter. It's really a pain in the neck seeing Sophie so lifeless because of it, alam kong siya ang sobrang nasasaktan sa mga nangyayari and knowing that it was my sister's doing stresses me out more.

One thing that I hate the most is accompanying a girl shopping, naka-ilang boutique kami na napuntahan bago siya nakapili ng susuotin niya. My dad already suggested for her to just let him handle it since we have a personal fashion designer but she insisted that she'll just look a dress herself. I know that she doesn't want to accept it since the designers are my mom's clothing line employees and my mom doesn't approve of her being a part of the family kaya nga di kami magkaparehas ng apelyido.

"What do you want to eat Kuya? Don't worry it's on me." tanong niya sakin.
We decided to eat on a Japanese restaurant after.

"Anything will do, just order for me." Sagot ko naman sa kanya.

Pinagmamasadan ko habang masiglang nag-oorder ng pagkain sa waiter. Kahit saang banda ko siya tingnan hindi talaga kapanipaniwala na may sakit siya tulad ng sinabi ni Zed, she's in her usual bubbly self.

"Pia, I wanna talk to you about something." Sabi ko pagkaalis ng waiter.

Kumunot naman ang noo niya. "This is unusual, what is it that you wanted to talk about?"

"About you telling Zed that you're sick. Anong kalokohan nanaman ba 'to?"

She pouted. "You won't understand even if I told you."

"Pia I hope you know that you are hurting people from what you are doing and lying about your illness is not a big joke. Di mo ba naiisip na kaya tinanggap ni Zed ang engagement ay dahil lang sa awa niya sayo? You're not only fooling him but also yourself." I said.

Biglang siyang sumimangot at sinamaan ako ng tingin.

"How will you understand me when you haven't even experienced falling hard for someone? Masama ba na bawiin yung sayo naman talaga on the first place? He's mine to begin with, I only broke up with him because of Dad, but now is a different thing! I realized that I love him so much that I can eat my pride in front of our father! He's mine and I'm not letting some other girl snatch him from me!"
