I was silently walking alongside with my Dad at this eerie hallway to meet the new royalty in the underground world. I'm not talking about hell, but this place was close to it if you mess with the people here.

Yes, our family runs legal businesses but that was not our main business-that was only on the surface. The real thing happens underground.

I initially don't have any idea until my father told me about it recently. As the only heir of Mario Mendez, I need to know how the family runs the business at a young age. We stopped at a closed door that was being guarded by two men in black suits. They were both tall and their muscles were bulk that it reminded me of Hulk. Nasty.

My Dad just nodded at them and they opened the door. There was a long table, a meeting room as I may call it, but it was dimly lit. There seated the seven directors with their bodyguards standing behind them. Dad was one of the eight directors, the second in command to the Boss.

I still give me chills even though this was the second time that I went here with my Dad to attend a meeting. Pakiramdam ko anytime magpapatayan ang mga tao dito. As usual, sa kanang side ng kabisera nakaupo si Dad and I stood behind him with one of our bodyguards; they are seated according to their ranks. Wala pang naka-upo sa kabisera so that means wala pa ang Boss.

Tahimik lang ang lahat which I still find weird but somehow understand. All the people seated were allies and were rivals at the same time-or on some cases your enemy. Kahit kasi may rank ka na ay pwede pa itong maaagaw ng iba. Hindi ibig sabihin na nasa mataas na ang rank mo ay di ka na pwedeng magalaw sa posisyon na 'yon. You can be demoted anytime kung hihina ang performance mo. Parang ordinaryong kompanya rin lang, ibawas mo lang ang mga illegal na transactions.

Maya-maya pa ay dumating na ang boss kasama ang dalawang bodyguards nito. If I'm not mistaken, they were former secret agents from a known Intelligence Agency turned into assassins slash bodyguards. That's the boss for you; he's on top so that means mas marami siyang kaaway so he needs it. Wondering who this boss I am babbling about? Well he's non other than the President and CEO of Yu Financial Group, Mr. Carlos Yu. Yup, Janna's father.

"Oh, Mario. Good thing you brought your son." Sabi nito kay Dad. Samantalang ngumiti naman ako sa kanya at bahagyang yumuko bilang paggalang at pagbati.

I still can't believe that this man with a serene look on his face was the boss of the underworld. Well, looks can be deceiving sabi nga nila.

"Yes Sir, he needs to get familiar with the business as soon as possible." Sagot naman ni Dad.
