The drive home was loud as usual, Jason complaining that Jake ruined his chances with those cheerleaders, Jayd making fun of him for even thinking that he had a chance in the first place and Lex just silently staring at Jake as he laughed at the interaction between the twins.

Just a typical Monday, except for the voice that would not leave my mind. I couldn't stop thinking about her, it was starting to become unsettling.

We arrived at the pack house twenty minutes later, twenty minutes of me spacing out on conversations to think about the voice in my head. Yup, I was crazy or at least getting there.

"Alright guys I know it was the first day but does anyone have homework to do?" I asked as we all made our way into the open plan kitchen that connected to the living room.

"It depends. Does being asked to read a book count as homework?" We all gave Jason a are-you-serious look. "What? I'm just asking."

"Yes dumbass, if a teacher asks you to read a book then it counts as homework."

"Alright, sheesh, you don't have to call me a dumbass just because I asked a question Jayd."

"It was a dumb question, therefore you are a dumbass. I'm just pointing it out."

"Whatever" Said Jason with a roll of his eyes. I don't know when these two are going to grow up and be more mature but I hope its soon, they are just too childish when it comes to their rivalry.

"Alright guys settle down." I quickly try and change the subject before things get out of hand. "Jayd, Jake said that you were talking to a classmate about a project. What is it about?"

As the words leave my mouth, Jayd's face is covered in a light pink colour. Is she blushing?

"Jayd are you alright? You look a little red, do you have a fever?"

Jayd never blushes, that is not an understatement. She was rough and tough, she was a great fighter for someone her age and would one day be a great warrior. She was not one to blush, ever...yet here we are.

"I'm fine stupid" she said, trying to get over the awkwardness of the moment. "I'm doing a project for English on poets who's words still have an impact in modern society. It's a paired project, the teacher picked who we would be working with and I got Max Creed."

"Max Creed? Isn't she the nerd who gets super high grades at everything she does?"

"She is not a nerd weirdo, she is just intelligent plus really shy so it makes it hard for her to talk to other people."

"Sounds like a nerd to me." Jason shrugged as if he had already lost interest in the conversation and in his sister's sudden interest in defending someone.

"Shut up Jason."

Well this was...new. Jayd never showed interest in any girls at school, thinking that they were always too busy trying to get a guys attention to hold an actual conversation. She had female friends but they were always from the pack whilst Max Creed was human.

"Well I think you should try and be friends with her. Work together but get to know her too, you need to make new friends, actually all of you do. That's one of the good things about high school, you get to meet a lot of new people." I was answered with grunts and a couple of okay's.

It was then that Alpha Derek made an appearance. "Alpha" we all said in unison and bowed our heads to show respect.

"Welcome back, I hope school was good today for everyone." Again there were a few groans and okay's but it was Jake who spoke up.
