Author's note: Hello again, new chapter up, hope you guys enjoy 🙂

Sarah's POV

I would be lying if I said that the impact was entirely pain free. The moment her body collided with mine, pain spread throughout my body, her scales rubbing painfully against my skin, causing blood to ooze from the small cuts that the contact created.

The forest was eerily quiet, as if expecting something truly awful to happen, yet Elektra remained in my arms, unmoving, as if she couldn't quite believe her current situation.

The stillness of the moment lasted only a few minutes as Elektra finally began to fight against my hold which in turn made me hold her even tighter. Her arms remained by her side as her body moved erratically, trying to extract herself from the situation. She growled menacingly, time and time again yet it was futile. I had no intention of letting her go.

"No"

She said, in a voice I did not recognise of that of my mate's but rather the beast that currently controlled her.

"Fight it!"

My voice sounded desperate even to my ears, the fear of losing her finally making itself known.

"Elektra, this isn't you."

"Let me go!"

Though her voice was harsh and animalistic, her actions were subtle and not at all aggressive. Her arms remained by her sides, making no attempt to push me away and despite her apparent desire to leave, she was not putting any strength behind her movements.

"Elektra, listen to me." I whispered in her ear, my voice soft as not to scare her away.

Her movements stilled and she seized her attempt to leave. Her heart rate, which I could feel from our joined bodies, beat steadily in her chest and her breathing became calm.

Taking that as a good sign, I move my head back so I can look her straight in the eyes. There is a subtle change in her expression, a part of her humanity shining through the anger of the beast. It was like seeing two different people, one human the other animal, both however looked confused and lost.

It occurred to me then that I did not know the name of the beast inhabiting my mate's body. The beast appeared to have a conscious mind, therefore I would need its name in order to completely calm my mate.

Silver

Yes?

Can you connect to the beast long enough to get a name?

It wasn't uncommon between shifters and their mates. It took practice as well as a strong bond, two things I was not sure I possessed at the moment but I had no other choice.

It won't be easy

Try

I could feel as Silver began to reach for Elektra, who still moved restlessly in between my arms. I felt when she finally reached my mate's mind as her eyes widened and her struggle began in earnest. She was now putting force behind her movements but I refused to move. I needed her back.

Silver!

The beast was fighting her off, raising walls upon walls to defend itself from the sudden intruder. Trying to aid in her search, I decide to attempt to distract Elektra, its host, in hope it would weaken the beast.

"Elektra"

No response.

"Elektra, listen to me."
