Chapter 19

Elektra's POV

Open your eyes Elektra

My eyelids feel heavy, my head is pounding and my body fells like it's been under a truck. I can hear a machine going off by the beat of my heart, the sound of an IV drip and voices in the distant.

If the pain is anything to go by then I'm certainly alive.

My body felt heavy, I wonder how long I have been laying down on this bed. With immense concentration and effort I manage to open my eyes only to close them right after due to the light in the room.

Ahh, too bright

The click of a door being opened catches my attention, quickly followed by a set of footsteps slowly making their way to my bed.

"How is she doing today John?" A feminine voice questions, a slight tinge of worry showing through.

"No change I'm afraid." Comes the reply, in a deep voice.

I feel the woman approach my bed and slowly run her hand through my hair. A sigh is followed and once she speaks, her voice cracks with emotion.

"I need you to wake up Elektra. We need you to wake up. The kids are not quite themselves without you and even Derek is feeling down, not that he would ever show it. An Alpha has to be strong... but when one of our own is in pain, it radiates throughout the pack and we all feel the loss."

I'm sorry

I wanted to say but my eyes remain closed. Her voice was hesitant and fearful, as if she thought this was the last goodbye. It reminded me of that of a child's when they hold onto their parents, not wanting to let go, knowing that if they did, they would leave.

I'm right here

Those words kept replaying in my mind but I realised they were meaningless if I didn't say them out loud. With a new resolve I force my mouth to move, an action that requires a lot of concentration as my lips were chapped and my mouth was dry to the point of painful.

"I'm here"

My throat throbs painfully in protest but I manage to get the words out. My voice is barely audible and it cracks in almost every syllable but I knew they had heard me because I feel Luna Jasmine gasp in surprise.

"Elektra?"

Her hands are on my shoulders and her face is close to mine as she continues to repeat my name.

"Elektra? Can you hear me? Elektra"

Talking is no longer an option, my mouth is far too dry so with great effort I blink my eyes open, and wait for them to adjust to the light. When they finally do, I'm met by two figures, a man and a woman, gaping at me in surprise and wonder.

Doctor John is the first to recover as he rushes to my side and begins to check my vitals and any possible injuries. Luna Jasmine seems to still be in shock so she remains to my left, holding my hand, with a look of pure joy.

"Everything is normal, absolutely no consequence of your coma. It's as if it never happened. How are you feeling?"

I open my mouth but my face constricts in pain. Doctor John must have caught my reaction because he quickly rushes out of the room only to return not two minutes later with a glass and a jug of water.
