Hey guys, I sincerely apologise for the lack of updates. I will try to get back on track. Here is a new chapter to say sorry, hope you guys enjoy 😊
Elektra's POV
Jake's room was located on the second floor of the main house, away from all the commotion created by the party.
To say I was nervous was an understatement, seeing that not two hours ago, I had my hand around his neck. We had fought before but never like this, I would have never dared to insult the Alpha's son, regardless of my position.
Before I knew it, I was standing in front of his room, hand elevated, ready to knock but still I hesitated.
What if our relationship cannot be repaired? What if he really does reject Lex?
The questions in my head were becoming overwhelming and causing me a headache in the process. Tired of my own indecision, I swiftly knock on the door and await a response.
"Come in." He says from the other side of the door. His voice sounded tired and held no trace of the boy I grew up with.
Maturity comes at a price
It was something I told myself everyday when I looked in the mirror. I would not consider myself an adult however I knew more than I should for my age. My past, though far from awful, was in no way easy. I was forced to grow up in order to survive and that is exactly what I did. I survived... at the cost of my childhood.
Without hesitation I opened the door and made my way inside.
Jake was standing in front of the mirror next to his wardrobe, seemingly staring at the bruise on his face that had only worsen since I had last seen him. The left side of his jaw was bruised in shades of grey and green and there was a cut next to his eyebrow. His neck was covered mostly by his shirt collar whilst the rest was covered in a thin scarf that complemented his outfit.
"Jake?"
He turned to me slowly. His dark grey eyes were clouded with almost no life to them. His posture was dull and submissive, a very different contrast to his usual powerful and dominant position as the Alpha's son. It was as if he had given up on living.
"Jake..."
I walked forward, careful of his reaction as I did not want to start another fight. His lifeless eyes simply followed me as I walked towards him.
"We need to talk." I say.
"It seems that everything that you had to say is on the bruises on my face and neck."
"Can you really blame me? Lex is my best friend, his well being is more important than my own. There is no way I would not react badly to your homophobic slurs."
I planned to remain calm and collected but it did not seem like it would be quite that easy. I didn't take into account the anger that Jake is currently feeling towards me.
"Aren't I the same? You were taken in by my father, we have been together from the start. How is it that you did not take into account my well being?"
"You were acting like every other uneducated homophobe. Spouting abuse that directly insulted me as well as Jayd and her mate. What did you expect?"
Jake lowers his eyes, refusing to meet my own.
"I do care about you, you are just as important to me as Lex however you have the power to break him and that is exactly what it seemed like you wanted to do. I could not ignore it."
My loyalty is split and I know I acted rashly but my family is everything and Jake was directly threatening those I care about. Though that is no excuse to hurt him as much as I did. The guilt I felt made me move towards him without purpose.
