Chapter 27

Elektra's POV

I had the distinct feeling of being stalked as Sarah made her way to me. If I used my powers maybe I could make it to the door but that was a secret I was not ready to divulge just yet. My only option was to talk to her and maybe then she would calm down.

"Sarah?"

She said nothing as she made her way to my side of the desk. She was now standing just in front of me.

"Talk to me." I pleaded. It was then that her eyes softened and she spoke.

"I forgot." My face turned into one of confusion. "I forgot that humans can feel the betrayal just as us shifters. I didn't even think about that. I can't imagine the amount of pain you were in."

"That's true, you really can't." I say sorrowfully.

Sarah extended her right hand, about to caress my cheek when I bolted from the chair I was sitting in and made my way to the other side of the desk, closer to the door in case she tried to touch me again.

"Elektra?" Her eyes held surprise.

Did she think I would let her touch me that easily?

I was angry but that quickly evaporated when I looked at her eyes. The colour had shifted from icy blue to violet and that's when I knew that I was in trouble.

How could I have forgotten how territorial and possessive Alpha's are?

"Sarah?"

"Try again."

"Silver?" She did not need to confirm it for me to know it was true.

She did not answer, choosing instead to move towards me. Knowing that I was in deep trouble I made for the door but was quickly stopped when Sarah stood in front of me.

Fast

I looked to her eyes only to find that Silver was still in control. Before I could talk she picked me up and walked us to the desk. Once there she slowly put me down and barred me in by putting one arm on each side of me which caused me to lean backwards a little.

"Silver, stop. You need to stop."

She brought her head down, ran her nose over my neck which caused a shiver to run down my spine and proceeded to nuzzle my neck. She inhaled deeply and whispered:

"Mine"

I swallowed thickly and willed my hormones to calm down. If I didn't stop her she would mark me and I was not ready for that.

Why is that always their go to solution?

If a shifter believes their mate is a flight risk, they will mark them, effectively bonding the two together.

I put my hands on her shoulders and pushed. It was safe to say it did absolutely nothing because she was an Alpha and I was her idiot mate who had tried to run away from her.

"Silver, stop." I tried once more. "Sarah," I tried "you are scaring me. Please stop." My voice trembled slightly.

It was then that I felt her stiffen and all movement stopped. I imagined that Sarah was trying to regain back control of her body or at least I hoped, so I remained in her arms until it was over. It did not take long for Sarah to lift her head from my neck and for me to confirm that her eyes were back to icy blue.

Thank the Goddess

I let out a sigh of relief. Despite regaining control, Sarah remained where she was, with her arms on either side of me and her face surprisingly close. The position we were in did very little to help with my internal turmoil as my body temperature just seemed to increase at her proximity.
