The situation seemed to have gone from bad to worse. The rogue in front of me looked angrier than before, if that was even possible.
"Listen to me Elektra, you have to run, NOW"
I can't, I don't have enough energy. If I try and run I won't make it two feet before he catches me.
I sighed knowing there was no way out of this but to fight. I was human and certainly weaker than a shifter, however Alpha Derek has trained me since I was 12, giving me the same strict regiment as the pups and warriors- to- be. He did not hold back once despite me being human and I respect him for that.
He is as weak as I am at this point. It would be a fairly close fight.
"You can't fight a shifter Elektra. It's madness, you won't survive."
If I don't fight he will kill me.
With that thought in mind I slowly got up, constantly facing the shifter in order not to get attacked by surprise again. I managed to get up on my feet and get myself into a fighting stance. Realising that his opponent was ready for a fight the rogue crouched down, growling menacingly, pulling his lips over his canines to make them more prominent and started running at me.
When he was about to strike I managed to side step to the left and avoid his punch, whilst simultaneously digging my right elbow into his jaw with enough strength for both of us to hear a crack. The rogue grabbed his jaw in pain and released a howl that quickly turned into an angry growl as he turned my way with his left fist raised, aiming for my nose. Quickly grabbing his arm, I dug my fist into his ribs, punching repeatedly until he got enough strength to shove me away.
I didn't fall this time, managing to stay on my feet despite my weak state. I looked to my opponent to see that he wasn't faring any better. He was bleeding from his mouth, the left side of his jaw was swollen and bruised, it looked like it hurt like hell. He was now grabbing his right side where I had just punched him, there is a chance I'm walking away from this alive.
"Don't get cocky."
I had to roll my eyes at that. She pops up at the most inopportune of times.
I'm fine, crazy voice in my head.
"My name is Sarah"
Hearing her name had a shiver make its way down my spine and my heart rate to increase. I hated that she had such an impact on me. I wanted to be mad at her for leaving me in the dark for a week yet her sultry voice, genuine concern and stating that I was important to her made me weak for her in the most delicious of ways.
Goddess, I can't be thinking this way in the middle of a fight.
"You are right, you are getting distracted. Though I don't mind hearing about the effect I have on you... or your body."
Despite the life threatening situation I was in, I still managed to blush a thousand different shades of red. I shook my head, trying to make this embarrassing situation go away and simultaneously getting my attention back to the rogue in front of me.
Whilst I was talking to Sarah ( Goddess, I love saying her name), he seemed to have been studying me, probably making a plan on how to defeat me and considering the creepy smirk that made its way to his face, I think he found one.
He came running at me in the span of a second, not giving me a chance to react or protect myself. Before I knew it he was in front of me, his fist had collided with my ribs with such strength that it left me gasping for air. I didn't have time to register the pain though because right after that punch he raised his knee and rammed it into my thigh making me scream in pain. I was heaving for air, the blows making it hard for me to focus so I didn't see his left fist coming up on my jaw from underneath, making contact with the bone and sending me flying twenty feet in the air and into the freezing water once more.
