Elektra's POV

By the time Aqua and I returned to the house, the party was in full swing, the porch was filled with people raging from all ages, humans and shifters alike. It had been an hour since my outburst with Jake and I had spent it simply talking to Aqua about my life as a human raised by wolves and her life as a water nymph.

Aqua had a great sense of humour, she was intelligent, beautiful and made me feel at ease. I was glad for her presence because without her it would have taken me a lot longer to calm down and I would have most likely not shown up to the party.

I could see many of the twins friends as well as many of Jake's but I had yet to see the birthday boys and girl. We slowly made our way through the house, first to the living room where most of the adults had assembled and then to the games room where over half of the teenagers could be found.

Amongst them I saw Jayd, surrounded by friends that proceeded to congratulate her. When the small crowd dispersed I made eye contact and I could see some apprehension cross her eyes.

She must have heard about my fight with Jake

We made our way to her where, before any words could be said, began to check for wounds and any other damage.

She is underestimating me. I am no longer the human girl that stood behind the big bad wolves whilst they protected me.

"Are you okay?" Concern evident in her voice.

Better than your future Alpha

I wanted to say smugly. I shouldn't be this childish but I was starting to grow tired of everyone assuming that I was weak.

"I'm fine, Jake got the worst of it." I simply stated, trying to hide the anger that was quickly returning to me. "Have you seen the Luna?"

"The Luna and Alpha are mingling. You know how these things go for adults, they have to greet everyone and make sure that guests are comfortable."

She stopped but it seemed like there was a lot more she wanted to say.

"What is it?"

"Are you sure you are okay? I heard that Lex is Jake's mate. I also heard that his reaction was less than...accepting."

"Lex is my best friend but he can handle himself. As for Jake, he can deal with the consequences on his own." I sigh.

When did things get so complicated?

"I can understand... I can understand that it is difficult to accept right off the bat that your mate is not what you had envisioned your entire life. But he could have handled it a lot better. He didn't have to be so homophobic about it."

"It was just the shock."

Was it?

"I hope so. I also hope that he does not do anything whilst he is still in...shock."

Jayd agreed by nodding along. She then turned to my left where Aqua had stood for the last five minutes.

"Oh, sorry, I didn't see you. Not sure how that's possible though."

Jayd was now gawking quite openly at Aqua and I could not blame her. Even if her true form remains hidden, her white hair seemed to shine even under the most unflattering of lights which in turn made her beautiful blue eyes stand out even more.
