Chapter 15

Jayd's POV

"Be mine"

The minute those words left my mouth I knew I had made a mistake. Though my feelings for Max were strong and unwavering, I would soon be meeting my mate, someone that had been chosen for me by the Goddess herself.

I removed my forehead from Max's and lowered my head in guilt. Somewhere out there I had a mate, a mate whom I would come to love and cherish yet in front of me was the girl I had developed strong feelings for, feelings that grew stronger the more time I spent with her.

Whilst I was having an internal debate, a soft hand made its way to my chin and gently pushed my face up until I'm gazing into Max's eyes.

"Are you alright?" Max asks slowly, her thumb now caressing the side of my face as she stares at me with an endearing look in her eyes.

I don't answer, I simply stand still, enjoying the warmth of her body against mine, her scent that seems to calm me down, the steady pace of her thumb going back and forth on my face, her swollen lips and her heart beat with mine.

"Never better" I whisper. Her eyes soften and a small smile appears on her face. Max seems content to simply stare into each other's eyes and since I had no intention of moving away from her anytime soon I was happy to stay still.

It was silent for a few minutes until the bell rang signalling the start of the next class. Despite my body yelling at me to stay in this position, enjoying Max's scent and the feel of her body against my own, I made an effort to move. I was now standing at arms length from Max, staring at her beautiful blue eyes.

Subconsciously, a smile made its way to my face. Max was giving me a questioning look.

"You are beautiful."

It was a statement not a question and the amazement in my voice surprised even myself. Her cheeks turned pink and she playfully slapped me in the shoulder.

"We have to go to class." She stated. I nodded in return.

We both looked away to grab our bags and compose ourselves from that make out session. We were in silence for a couple of seconds until a knock was heard and a few moments later Thomas walks in, his eyes lighting up when he finds Max.

"There you are gorgeous. I was looking for you everywhere." He says as he makes his way to her, quickly giving her a hug and a kiss on the cheek whilst I try to swallow down a growl from his presence and the fact that he is touching Max.

She awkwardly hugs him back, clearly uncomfortable with his presence, whether because he ruined our moment or because she was feeling guilty about kissing me when she has a boyfriend, I wasn't sure.

"Some people saw you come in here so I chased you up. What are you doing at the old abandoned music club room?"

Max wasn't looking at him nor was she looking at me. It seemed like she was frozen in time, staring at the wall behind Thomas's head. I took pity on her and decided to speak in her behalf.

"She came here because she saw me come in. She was worried about me since I missed over half the school day." I answer in an oddly cold and emotionless way. Even a dumb jock like Thomas could tell that I did not like him.

"Ah Jayd, did not see you there." He says awkwardly, fidgeting from side to side.

At the sound of my name, Max seems to snap out of whatever trance she was in and speak for the first time since Thomas got here.
