EPISODE 12:  T h e  O r c h i d

Why did I ever think that going back to my normal life would be more peaceful than leaving that demon's den?

I was just walking down the stairs, doing my best to avoid the glances and obvious whispers the other students were shooting at me. Per the usual.

Students can be worse than demons. But, what's new?

"She's skipped nearly a week of classes."

"What's wrong with her? She's always been so weird!"

"So what!" I snapped in the middle of the hall. And don't ask me why, but I think living with demons for the past few days gave me confidence a big ass boost. I made sure to bore my eyes into the last person I heard talking, "my life is really none of anyone's business."

Damn it, I really should have never spoken. I quickly shoved past them and dashed down the steps to the canteen. It was always better to stay quiet, no matter how much I wanted to fight back. Fighting back would only feed their excitement over my freakshow life.

"That's her! She was saying some nonsense about Demons all semester," some loud girl pointed her rude finger at me as soon as I walked over to my usual empty table.

Oh, if it wasn't that same leech who attempted to bully me like we were in some high school phase when I was eating lunch in class a week ago. Also before my life completely took a change to the unimaginable insanity it was in now.

"I'm telling you, she's crazy! I heard she skipped lecture halls for a week! A whole week! She must be involved in something bad. Ugh, just looking at her sleep-deprived drug user eyes!"

Sleep-deprived drug user eyes? Well, that's a new one.

"Hey creep!"

I shut my eyes, took a deep breath, and stopped in my tracks hoping this would pass easily for me.

But of course not. Nothing ever does.

When I turned around I made sure to face her with a smile, well at least as friendly as I could manage. I didn't know for a charming smile, but I was hoping it would be killer.

"It's me." She growled, taking a step forward. I laughed and shuffled back.

"Me? Who...yea, I can't really remember. Um, I'll go away now--"

"Stop right there!" Her obnoxiously loud voice caught more attention to me, more than I had intended. Jesus, what kind of vocal cords did this girl possess? I bet she could make Jimin's demon ears bleed to death.

Oh, great. Why was I even thinking of that right now?

"Yes?" I tried my best to play the nice game, bowing my head down to her, not meeting eye level. Make yourself small and weak and maybe they'll just let you go by with a few humiliating words. Otherwise, the littlest intention of fighting back would leave their egos hurt and that would bring me more problems I didn't want.

"So, tell me about those stupid demons you see around," she walked closer, smiling with mischief, "aren't you going to entertain me again with one of those dumb stories. Can you believe it girls, she told me she sees ghosts!"

"Ghosts?" Her friends laughed in unison. "Oh my god, what a freak."

I rolled my eyes and smile, "that's why you ran away like a coward." I swear that I try my best to shut up, but it's never enough.

"What." She snapped her head back at me.

"Listen, why don't you just leave me alone." I closed in on her, taking two steps forward. She awfully reminded me of a certain brother who wouldn't stop pressing my buttons and staying quiet wouldn't get the job done with him.
