Episode 26: A C h a t W i t h E n v y

I stepped out of my room and faced the yellow door immediately ahead of me. I could've been completely fine staring at it for hours but the courage to step forward wasn't easy.

I eventually had to.

With each step growing closer my heavy burden only grew more, until I was inches away from knocking.

"You could just stand there forever too, you know?"

I snapped my head at V who was at the entrance of the hallway, intimidatingly walking over.

"I..." My throat ran dry. I couldn't have this happening now. I had to stay firm if I wanted this to work out as I planned. "I want to talk with you."

"Well, I don't. Mind moving from the door now? Or should I make you." He stalked over beside me, glaring down. I looked up at his from my lashes and nodded as a first instinct.

"Wait. No." I shook my fear away and gripped the doorknob tightly, even though I knew he could rip my hand off without breathing a sweat. "I need to talk with you."

"And I said--"

"I don't care." I looked up at him with a challenge. He stared back at me like I was growing two heads.

"Look, I don't think that you clearly understand who you're talking to. Maybe you've somehow lost every last shred of reasoning, but let me remind you of this. When I say something, it's a yes, and you walk away. Clear?"

"V." I closed my eyes and said a quick prayer. Maybe he was still somewhere in there too like Jimin was. "Like I said. I have to talk to you. Please, it's important."

He stared at me for a few seconds then removed my hand off the doorknob, twisted his room open and stepped in. "If you're waiting for an invite then you won't get one." He looked back at me. I unfroze my body.

"Thanks." I stepped inside and the door slammed shut right after us. I glanced behind me with nervousness. "I'd have preferred it open."

"I couldn't care less about what you prefer." He warned me. "Now say your piece and go."

"Okay, it's fine! Sorry." I placed my hands up front with reconciliation. "I'm just glad I can speak with you."

"Well, you do have spunk for a mortal, I'll give you that. But this better be worth it, or else I'll deep fry your tiny little body into an unappetizing meal."

Good God, this man does not speak a sentence without violating your life. How many words did he memorize a day to make a person feel like shit? Well, A plus for creativity.

"I was wondering...about that day." I stalled. How the hell was I suppose to carefully say this to him without dying?

"Which day." He growled impatiently.

"Well, the day we went to see Leyla. Before that, at the club. I asked you something, right?"

"Hm, can't seem to remember. Just in case you're wondering, yes, you're that irrelevant."

I smiled and looked up at him with a knowing gaze. He clenched his jaw down and widened his questioning eyes back at me with annoyance. "I know I'm not irrelevant to you, V."

"You constantly underestimate me and overestimate yourself." He scoffed. "The best record of stupidity. Congratulations."

"V, I know who I remind you of. And I'm sure you know who I'm talking about. So don't say I'm irrelevant because I'm not irrelevant. I know you constantly question why I look so much like Dalia."
