Episode 41: T h e F a l l e n K i n g
I fastened on the buckles of the combat boots he lent me and stood up straight. Ever since I came out of the bathroom, V was eyeing me like a hawk ready to claw at his target.
"Are you ready?" He stretched his neck to the side, wearing a matching sparring fit that rudely enunciated his buff arms.
"Yes." I stood there awkwardly, rubbing a hand against my bare arm. "I guess..." I knew I was flexible and good at dodging things, especially when kids would hurl food at me.
Ok, so maybe I should place my hands up in a fighting position?
"Don't lose sight of me."
"Huh?"
The hairs on the back of my neck stood up as he suddenly reappeared beside me. Before I knew it, I had taken an elbow to the gut that sent me flying across the large room, skidding on my back until the force died down.
I clutched my stomach gasping and rolling around for air. Was he actually serious about hitting me? If so, I didn't stand a chance against him!
"That was a low blow!" I coughed, sitting up in pain. Literally.
"If you hadn't drunk that tonic beforehand you probably would have passed out. Or worse, there could've been a hole in the center of your stomach." He walked over to me. "Rule number one, never let the enemy get behind your back. That's basic and fundamental to fighting."
"Yeah, I clearly understand that now." I sarcastically mumbled, steadying myself back up on my feet.
"Well if you did, why'd you fall for it again?"
Crash!
This time my back slammed against the opposite wall and I plopped down to the floor with agonizing pain.
"You..." I took a moment to collect some air. "That's not fair! You're using the teleporting thing."
"Are you going to tell Satan he isn't fair when he comes after your blood?" V yelled at me. "Get up! Right this instant!"
I grit down on my teeth, feeling the frustration building up in my chest. Why isn't he teaching me how to even guard myself! He's just taking fun blows at me. How is this training? This was more like torture!
"I'm coming at you! Put up your guards!" It was like a blink of an eye before V was standing in front of me, ready to punch my face right into the wall.
And if I hadn't ducked that as soon as I did, then I probably would have suffered a severe cranial concussion right about now.
I quickly rolled out of the corner and ran for my life.
Hell yeah. I ran like a pathetic loser because if I just stood around I was just bound to get a direct blow.
"Are you just going to run?" He chased after me, hot on my heels.
"Hell yeah! You think I'm crazy enough to fight you like this?" I shouted back, dashing in zigzags and circles, trying to lose him and get the upper hand on speed--which was practically impossible.
I yelped as he got me from behind, locking his arms around my chest and hurled me down to the floor. I'm pretty sure I broke my arm in that fall.
"Ow..." I moaned, clutching my shoulder tightly.
"Get up." He glared down at me.
"Give me a break will you!" I sat up in pain, feeling my lose arm dangle by my side.
