Episode 43: S u s p e c t

Jin suddenly found himself resting back in his room. He didn't remember arriving here, but he knew that the last thing he saw before losing consciousness was Hanul trying to suck out Envy's flame.

"Are you okay, Jinnie?" A pair of small hands gripped the footrest of his bed. Jin sat up quickly, preparing to strike through the intruder's heart until he stopped it inches away from Sera's startled eyes.

"Ahhh!" She screamed, and stumbled back, falling down on her bottom.

"You?!" Jin gawked with disbelief. "How did you get in here you snotty child? This isn't a room you can just enter, you know that!"

"I know!" She pouted, her lower lip trembling. "But...but...you were hurt! I thought you were dead!"

Jin blinked, sitting up on his bed, confused as ever. His eyes narrowed down. "Listen, kid. You saw what happened didn't you?"

She nodded, her nose dripping with snot as she wiped her tears off. Jin struggled to maintain his serious composure, finding himself giving in with a sigh.

"You know, once upon a time, I used to be a heartless scary monster. A child like you could've never gotten me to be like this. I'd have your bones for breakfast! But, I guess the times have really changed, huh?" He grinned, remembering his glorious days.

Her eyes widened and she quickly nodded, agreeing with his last statement more. Or at least she'd hope things had changed.

He scoffed and ruffled his hair. "Well, tell me. What did you see after I passed out?"

"Um...well..." She blinked. "I...oh, I forgot."

"Change of plans. If you don't tell me what the hell you saw I will have you for breakfast right now. And I don't even care if it's not breakfast time yet."

"No! No! I swear, I swear!" She cried. "I really, really forgot!"

"Huh?" Jin squinted at her. "How the hell does a child like you have such poor memory?"

She shrugged cluelessly. "I don't remember much anymore since...." her lips quivered. "Mommy..." she sniffed, and Jin had an eerie feeling of what was coming next. Yes. He was right.

"I WANT MY MOMMY!"

A loud ass cry baby tantrum.

"Tell me the truth." I looked up at V after I had relaxed from my fit of coughs, struggling to breathe again. "Since when did you feel this way?"

He averted his eyes. "I don't think I ever had it controlled...ever since you brought me back from Envy's possession."

"What?" I wasn't expecting the answer to shock me this much. "You mean, ever since you broke free from Envy's control, since that last time, you've been hiding that? All this time?"

He didn't answer me but his eyes looked like they've had enough today. How in the world was he able to sustain such nagging urges? And yet, he was able to keep it all to himself too.

"If you feel better, then you should leave now." He stood up.

"Wait. Are you going to avoid me?"

I bit down on my lip. That's exactly what I was afraid of him doing. V always did that. He avoided people because he didn't want to hurt them. He was afraid he'd lose control, which was the real reason he wasn't close to anyone. He'd choose to be the bad guy rather than allow anyone to get close to him.
