E p i s o d e 1 6: C o n t r o l
I'm not okay.
This wasn't okay.
How I feel about myself.
How I'm living.
I was just a 20-year-old girl in the middle of an expensive world who couldn't afford tuition or good clothes and saw demons on occasion.
Now, I live with rich demons, some who want me dead and some who are using me, wearing expensive clothes, getting my tuition paid, and barely being tormented by pop up demons--not the usual.
With a heavy sigh, I sat on the veranda, staring out at the illusional greenery that was displayed. "Wow, it's not even real." I scoffed, looking back down at my psychology textbook. Why the hell was I even trying to focus on the homework? There's no way I was going to save my grades after what happened to me this semester.
"What's not real?"
I turned around, startled by Jimin's presence. I closed the textbook and smiled at the fake scenery.
"You. This. Everything I ever knew."
"I'm not real?" He cocked his head, lips curving up with amusement. He folded his arms and leaned forward on the edge of the veranda beside me. "I wonder if all of this is an illusion inside of your head then."
"Don't even play with me like that. You know, I used to think about that every day. Do you know the reason I majored in psychology? Not because I like studying. It was just to learn about mental illnesses and see if I really do have a problem."
"Well, then rest assured. I am real." He took a seat in front of me and drank Absinthe out of his glass. "Would you like some?"
"No thank you. That doesn't quite suite my taste pallet." I shook my head and wrinkled my nose.
"Ah, is that why the last time you drank two full glasses and pressed your lip--"
I quickly clamped my hand on his mouth. "IT WAS AN ACCIDENT!"
His eyes widened and they looked down at my hands. Crap, I was going to be demon food any second now."Sorry." I cleared my throat, quickly removing then. "Anyway, I would assume the eldest demon prince doesn't just idly chat with a lowly mortal. What's your purpose for coming here?" I sarcastically scoffed.
"Well, what if you're wrong and I do talk to mortals for no apparent reason when I'm bored?" He shrugged. "Assumptions are bad."
"Then I would be concerned for those mortals." I joked.
"Oh, that really hurt." He rolled his eyes. "Fine, you got me. I did come here because I wanted to talk about Sera's incident."
"Oh." My face grew pale. I felt guilty for having Sera involved in this mess, but it was better than leaving her in a world full of demons to herself. She didn't even know her mom died, that poor girl. "What do you think happened?"
"I think it was my father sending a message. I don't know why he bothered to come for us after 665 years, but he's trying to reach out to us now."
"Should I be concerned?"
"Yes." He stared at me with an obvious look.
Of course I should be. It's Satan himself threatening us. I must have lost my mind living with them thinking that it would be okay. Even if he was their father, with the way they referred to him it didn't seem like he was returning for a friendly reunion.
"I'm pretty sure Xapham knows about you and Sera by now. It's no secret since many things happened to disrupt the balance of energy in the realms. And if Xapham is aware, then my father definitely aware as well. Knowing Father, he loves exploring abnormalities. And I assume you understand what I mean by that."
