Episode 30: A w a k e n i n g

"Brother, would you care to explain?"

The tension between Jimin and V's intense gazes had my heart beating at an unsettling pace.

V widened his eyes with bewilderment. "A-Are you accusing me of killing my own servant?"

"I'm not accusing you." Jimin quickly retaliated. "I just know that the only person who we've physically seen with black feathers  around here is you."

"Those feathers don't mean anything! Father has them too! I had no reason to kill that servant."

"Well, you've never had a reason for killing your servants before either." Jungkook emotionally lashed at him.

"You shut up, boy." V's eyes glowed yellow but soon faded when Jungkook cowered away behind me. His eyes fleetly glazed over me and then intensely back at Jimin. "This is Father's doing! Didn't this happen before when that infant accused me while everyone was gone? There's no evidence of me doing this!" V growled back in defense.

This didn't feel good. Something was bothering and picking at me but I didn't know what. It's almost as if V was truly clueless but at the same time guilty of something else.

"We didn't find evidence of that, you're right. But, how would Father be able to enter the house without us sensing it?" Suga spoke up.

"But he's always had his ways!" V scoffed and glanced at everyone's suspicious eyes. "Look at you all accusing me! Always making me the bad guy." His eyes glowered at them into tiny slits and his body rumbled with a menacing golden heat. "I didn't kill her." Yeah, maybe, but I had a feeling if we continued to push his buttons, even more, he might kill one of us.

"Let's leave brothers. Nothing good will come out of this right now. We have to deal with this more tactful." Jimin quickly took the lead as Jungkook grabbed Sera's hand from me. "Go!" He ordered everyone who disappeared in a blink.

Jimin reached for my hand but I pulled it behind my back and shook my head.

"No, I'm going to stay."

"Hanul, come with me." Jimin looked at me as if I were insane and grabbed my arm.

"Didn't you hear him? Get out of here!" V glared.

"Go. I'm fine." I turned to Jimin and peeled his grip off of me. He glared at his brother with an unreadable expression and glanced back at me before he vanished.

"V, no one's trying to accuse you." I stammered out, trying to reason with him. I had been trying to piece this all together without being unfair. It seems that every time we blame him for something it ends up not being true and then I wind up regretting it.

"Don't lie to my face." He glared. "I can feel the mortal fear and doubt oozing out of you."

"Fine! I'm afraid. But that's not because I'm scared of the possibility you might've killed Lith. It's because I'm scared of what we don't know. I'm scared that maybe you're right. What if the devil really is here! Maybe he's trying to confuse us and set you guys against each other?"

His face softened up before it adopted the usual stone hard expression. "Don't try to analyze who I am when you know nothing about it."

"Are you sure about that?" I stepped forward. "Do I really know nothing?" Even he couldn't deny what I knew--what I might've seen things about him. Probably, things he never wanted me to know, but because of that, I'm not going to ignore him and run away every time he tried to frighten me away. I know better than anyone else, he isn't who he makes himself to be.
