Episode 53: V o c a v i t
666th year, January 1st 12:00 a.m.
"Are you feeling okay?" I kept checking up on him as we exited the bathroom. I held onto his arm tightly, even though he was stable enough to walk on his own now.
"Yes, Hanul. Really, I'm fine now. Don't worry." V replied for the tenth time.
"Okay, just checking. If you feel anything you need to tell me, alright?"
"Yes, just go get your bag. We should head home now before we..." his voice drowned out when he looked around the restaurant.
"I think...we're already pretty much in trouble." I stared back at the staff hiding behind the counter and holding kitchen pantry as weapons. Some of them were on the phone, whispering. Not a single customer was having dinner. It was completely evacuated.
"Put your hands up! Don't move!" The door burst open and about five cops entered followed by high ranking security swiftly ordering others to gather around in a specific formation.
"Oh my Hell." I slowly raised my hands up. V stood still, staring at the cops like it didn't affect him.
"It's him! When...when I entered I saw the bathroom destroyed and he was attacking that innocent girl!" The staff from earlier pointed at V with a shaky finger, hyperventilating.
"Is this true? Are you being held hostage by this man, young lady?" The cop in the center pressed his earpiece into his ear and practically shouted the questions at me.
"I just--"
"Yes." V grabbed me close and hooked his arm around my neck. "What are you all going to do now? If any of you decide to shoot she'll die too." He smirked.
"V..." I gasped, tapping his arm furiously. He's going to get us in deeper shit than we already are! My eyes glanced over the monitor on the lobby floor seeing a bunch of cops and news anchors lined up, waiting for a signal.
"Stay still, I'm simply entertaining them while I wipe their memories away." He smiled.
"Yes captain, the man seems to be in his late 20s, he might be mentally unstable judging by his weird dialogue, quote on quote, 'I wipe their memories away'. He could be one of those sick role-playing gamers that decided life in a cooped up room was too boring." The cop reported with a slight taunt in his tone.
I had to hold back my laugh from what he had just described V as. After all, V was one arm flex away from snapping my neck.
"Damn it, can't you just use some invisibility cloak or something? I thought demons were supposed to be invisible!" I hissed up at V.
"We're not invisible. We just appear as a substitute for something else. I simply chose to use my normal appearance since I was going out with you today." He grumbled back.
Oh right, happy fucking birthday Hanul. What a lovely way to end the night! And here I thought we'd be going back to his room after and...what the hell am I thinking of right now.
"Unus..." V suddenly spoke up, lifting his pointer finger.
"What is he going to do!" The cops stood on guard.
"Duo..." He lifted the second finger.
"Stay on guard! It's a count down!" They shouted and pointed their rifles at him.
"Tres." He smirked and snapped his three fingers together. The guns dropped to the floor followed by the bodies of everyone inside the restaurant.
