Episode 18: H e a r t b e a t

"Where's V?" Jimin asked during dinner. I silently sat there picking at my food as the thoughts of his lips brushing and molding against mine dug a hole of anxiety in the pit of my stomach.

There was no way I was going to finish dinner. I pushed my plate away and stood up from the chair doing my best to avoid meeting the eye contact that Jimin had been begging to get.

"You're not finished eating yet. Where are you going?"

"Thanks for stating the obvious." I frowned. "But I don't have an appetite anymore."

"That's hard to believe. You stuff your face full every day." Jin chuckled but quieted down when I passed him a glare.

"What's wrong, Hanul?" Jungkook sat up with concern.

"Nothing." I forced on a tight smile. If I didn't leave right now I might end up just puking all over their empty decorative plates.

"You didn't eat all day. Finish your food." Jimin sipped his absinthe and spoke with a demanding tone. Losing my challenge, I glared up at him looking back at his intense gaze.

"You really do have a habit of bossing people around don't you?"

"Who do you think you're speaking to that way?" Suga spoke up with a growl.

"Tell me why the hell should I care?" I snapped at him. So the sleepyhead decided to fight back now? I glanced at his brothers, none of them seemed to look content with my attitude but I didn't care. It wasn't my fault that I was forced to stay here with unempathetic demons who just wanted to use me in ways that were still unknown.

"Insolent mortal." He hissed back at me. "Know your place. You're nothing but a--"

"Silence," Jimin spoke up all the while he managed to not break his intense glare on my face. But I could see how much I had gotten under his skin with my words. Good. "If you don't want to eat then don't. There's no issue with that." His lips curved up into a cocky smile that I just wanted to scratch off his face. Without another word, I took off towards the stairs but I practically ran into V who appeared out of thin air, holding a squealing Sera tightly with his yellow flaming hand and a drawing papers in his other hand.

"What the hell are you doing?" He walked right past me, dragging the protesting girl along. "Hey!" I grabbed his arm but I might as well have touched a burning stove because as soon as I did it welted up with pain.

"Let go!" He yelled at my tight grip.

"Stop it! You're hurting her!" I argued, blocking his path.

"Don't interfere!" He shoved me back into the sharp edge of a display table sending pain jolting up my spine.

Jimin quickly reappeared, grabbing Sera away from V in a swift moment. J-hope appeared next to me and held out his hand to help me as the rest of the brothers ushered out after.

"Thanks." I got up, feeling the beginning of a bruise forming on my back as Jimin passed the crying girl on to me.

"What was the point of all this?" He turned to V for an explanation. A loud slam from his brother's hand plastered the papers he was holding down onto the display table. If he was using just a little more force I'm sure it would have broke and rained down splinters.

"This."

I wasn't a fool to how mother nature worked with controlling the weather but when I say the temperature dropped below zero, I really mean it. All six brothers froze with the same look of horror etched on to their faces. Jimin was the first to step forward and grab hold of the papers flipping through the stack of the same image over and over again: a blackbird.
