Roadtrip

It will take us 8 hours to reach Soleado so we decided to leave at 4 in the morning. Hinatid ako ni Max sa apartment and he left like that. No sweet gestures, no sweet talks or whatsoever.

It's not like I'm hoping!

I mean, hindi ko rin siya mabasa. Like the other night he was sweet and vocal for some unknown reasons pero ngayon parang he just drew a line between us that serves as a barrier to make me realize that we're back to normal.

I'm packing up inside my room at dinadalian ko na rin because I should get some sleep dahil baka hindi ako magising ng maaga para mamaya. He told me he will pick me up sa baba at exactly 3:50 in the morning.

"Ria?" Red called as he knocked on my door. I was folding some clothes inside my backpack but I stopped to sit down on my bed.

Binuksan niya ang pinto halfway. Makikita ko lang ang kalahati ng body niya.

"Can... we talk to you?" He asked softly.

Before I could respond, he opened the door fully and there I saw Cassie. Her pixie hair before was longer now making her look prettier. I missed her long hair though.

She smiled softly at me. Lumakad sila papunta sakin at ngumiti rin naman ako sakanila.

"You don't need to explain. I know na what you're going to say," I smiled.

Cassie ran to hug me. She started crying habang nakayakap sakin and I started tearing up, too. And it's not because they did not tell me about it.

I've learned that sometimes people don't tell you things and it's not because they don't want to.. but it's because at that moment maybe they just think it's easier for it to stay that way.

It's not right for me to get mad at Red, eh siya nga walang alam samin ni Max. I'll tell him soon.. but not now.

"I'm sorry, I didn't tell you about it. It happened so fast and I--"

"Shh! Okay nga lang!" I hissed.

Red sat down beside us while Cassie is still hugging me habang umiiyak. Red smiled at me at ako naman ay tumatawa. I'm happy for them.

"How did you know?" Cassie asked.

"Secret. At saka iniwan niyo kaya ako sa bar! I was so drunk that time but I tried my best to find you yun pala kasama kana neto!" I pointed at my brother.

Tumawa kaming tatlo. Hinampas ko si Red and Cassie was laughing beside us. I'm happy seeing them both happy after all the years they spent not being with each other and denying their feelings.

"Are you still leaving?" I asked Red.

He nodded. "Yup. For a month lang.. I'll come back after. Saka I'll leave after Brian's--"

"Shh! Wag ka nga! Let Brian tell her!" Cassie hissed.

I looked at Red and he just zipped his mouth. Tumingin naman ako kay Cassie at umiling lang siya.

"Brian will talk to us the day after tomorrow so just wait. Gusto namin kay Brian mismo mang galing. Anyways, do you have plans tomorrow?" She asked while looking at my stuff.

"Yup. I'll go in Soleado for a business trip," I replied. Tumayo ako at nilagay sa loob ang isang pajama.

Cassie got the pajama out of the bag at saka pinaglaruan ito. Lumakad ako papunta sa closet to get a hoodie so I can wear it tomorrow.
