Trouble

I looked at him with my eyes wide open. I was frozen in place at dahan dahang binababa ang phone kahit na Ms. Jessica was still talking on the other line.

Binalik ni Max ang tingin niya sa necklace ko na hawak niya.

"Yuan... fen?" He read the chinese characters.

"W-where did you get it?" I asked at saka nag-lakad papunta sakanya para kuhanin ang necklace sa kamay niya. His expression remained blank ng hablutin ko ito from his hands.

I fixed the tangled chains of the necklace at saka sinubukang ilagay ito sakin. I looked at Mr. Limjuaco who was still standing sa may door ng office niya habang nakatingin sakin. His expression remained the same, kalmado pa rin ito.

"I was looking for it!" Sabi ko.

So the necklace did not trigger anything? I'm glad. I was so nervous kanina because it might cause him to have another headache attack.

I tried to fix the necklace again because I can't seem to put it in place because of the hook. My hands are slippery kaya nahihirapan ako ilagay.

"You dropped it. The maintenance staff gave it to me when I got here," he said. Umalis siya sa pagka-sandal sa door at nag-lakad papunta sakin. Tumalikod ako sakanya at nag-iwas ng tingin because I thought he's going out.

Laking gulat ko when he stopped behind me!

"I'll do it," he said at saka kinuha sa kamay ko ang necklace.

His hands brushed against mine at naramdaman ko ang warmth ng skin niya. I was shocked kaya inalis ko kaagad ang kamay ko at hinayaan siya.

"U-uhh--" I said awkwardly habang nararamdaman ang kamay niya sa leeg ko while he's putting the necklace. Why is he doing this?!

This moment gives me so much nostalgia. Bittersweet emotions washed over me and I don't know if I'm happy because ginawa niya ulit ito or sad because it's not the same anymore.

"There. Stop leaving your things anywhere and then ask kung nasaan. Organize your desk," he said pag-tapos ilagay ang necklace.

I turned to face him and now he's back with his usual blank stare. Nilagay niya ang dalawang kamay sa pockets ng pants niya. He already removed his dark blue coat.

"R-right. Thanks, Mr. CEO."

There was an awkward silence between us and I'm sure it's because of last night. Nag-iwas ako ng tingin at saka nag-lakad papunta sa chair ko.

"I have another meeting, Ms. Adelson.." he said at napatingin naman ako sakanya. Is he going to order me around again?

"... and I haven't eaten but it's okay. This will only last for an hour. Can you buy me lunch in the Chinese restaurant nearby?" He asked. Kinuha niya ang wallet niya at nag-labas ng cash.

He's making me his secretary again! Hindi ako nag-salita but I nodded instead. Hindi pa siya kumakain so I'll consider it.

"Okay!" I said at kinuha ang cash na inabot niya.

Pumunta ako sa table ko pag-tapos kuhanin ang cash sakanya. He remained in that position, habang nakatingin sakin. I got my wallet at saka lumakad papalapit sa elevator.

"What time will you be back?" Tanong niya. Tumingin ako sakanya and I saw that he glanced over at his watch.

"Maybe after an hour? I'll eat my lunch there po," I said. Tumango naman siya.
