Chapter 26 (throwback)

this is the second to the last throwback chapter! After chapter 27, we'll go back to the present time again. Sorry for not updating last week, I had a rough week but I'll post a lot now.

Chapter 26

Getting to know him

"Are you out of your mind?" I asked Red. He's explaining to me on why I should agree to live with Max for 3 days because he's going on a trip needed for his business class.

"I'm not!"

"Why are you leaving me with a stranger? I can live with my friends! Bakit mo ako iniiwan with a guy I don't even know?!" I cried.

"Because, you have to focus on your studies! And living with your friends would just give you too much freedom, and what did you do last saturday? You went to a club with them! I already talked to mom and dad about this, Ria.." he replied.

"I don't even know him!"

"He's my best friend and I know I can trust him, Ria! Besides, he's not a stranger to you! Did you forget how close you were--"

"We were never close!" I immediately denied. Totoo naman! Hindi talaga....

"Whatever. You can't change my mind Ria. We've all decided," he insisted.

I sighed in frustration because I know wala na akong magagawa. I can't change their minds, lalo na silang tatlo ang nag-decide for this. But letting that arrogant chinito sleep here with me for three days?! No way!

Still, wala akong nagawa. Kaya naman panay ang irap ko when Max came over dala dala ang kanyang small backpack. He's wearing a gray hoodie, his glasses, and a skinny fit denim jeans. Why does he look like a kpop star even though he looks like a nerd at the same time?!

"Bro, thank you so much for agreeing to do this. Just let me know if hindi mo na kaya ang sister ko.." Red told him. Excuse me? Baka ako ang unang mag tap-out!

He just nodded. "No problem, Red.."

Hindi ko na narinig pa ang pinag-usapan nila since wala rin naman akong choice even if hindi ako payag sa gusto nilang mangyare. Mom and Dad called me and explained the situation, saying it would only take three days.

There is something about him na ayaw ko, and I don't know what that is. Maybe because he's too intimidating? He's so quiet? Mysterious? He won't even talk to me, even if we're both in the sala. Red already left early in the morning and I have no classes today but I have a pile of homeworks to finish. I don't know if may pasok ba siya or wala because parehas kaming hindi nagsasalita.

I looked at him. Naka-upo siya sa dining table and his eyes are focused on the papers that he is reading. Maybe it's for school? I don't know.. but he seems really busy. I wanted to ask him if may pasok ba siya, but I don't want him to think na feeling close ako. I don't even want to be close to him!

Napatalon ako when he caught me staring because he fixed his glasses. Agad akong tumingin sa math worksheet ko na kanina pang walang sagot. Should I ask him for help?

No!

"What is it?" Nagulat ako ng bigla siyang mag-salita. Tumingin ako sakanya and I saw his deep eyes staring at me, behind the glasses he's wearing.

"H-huh?"

"You look frustrated," he replied. I guess I have to swallow my pride just for today because hindi ko talaga masagutan ang worksheet na to. We will pass this tomorrow, so I have to finish it now.
