Chapter 41

Business trip

"Oh shit," Marco muttered ng makita kung sino ang nasa loob ng elevator. He suddenly looked for a hiding place but quickly gave out when he realized he's stuck.

I chuckled a bit and gave him a funny look habang sumalpak siya pabalik sa sofa and took out his phone to look busy.

"Marco! Why are you here? Shouldn't you be at school?" Mr. Chairman said as he got out of the elevator together with Max who's wearing a black button down tucked inside a light denim pants. His sleeves were tucked up to his elbow, giving him a fresh clean look.

He's starting to wear casual clothes at work now and it still looks good on him. His hair was still brushed up at kuminang ulit ang piercing niya sa left ear. His expression changed when he saw me. My heart skipped a beat as I looked away.

"Uh.. my class starts at three in the afternoon, Dad," Marco replied.

He stood up to greet his Dad formally and the Chairman sat on the sofa at binaba ang suitcase na dala dala niya sa coffee table.

Max arched his eyebrow at Marco. It was obvious that he's lying! This little kid and his mischievous acts surely stresses his Ahia and Dad out.

"Ms. Euphoria! Why are you not here the other day? The board of directors talked about your proposal," the Chairman looked at me and smiled.

Marco sat down on the sofa again and looked at me with a sheepish smile. Napunta ang tingin niya sa Ahia niya na nakatayo lang sa gilid namin.

I stood up from my chair and bowed. I was about to answer him ng biglang mag-salita si Mr. CEO.

"She was sick that day, Dad." Maxon said as he looked at me.

Marco suddenly chuckled out of nowhere at umiling. We all looked at him at tumingin naman siya samin. He fixed his black cap while raising his phone ng makita ang Ahia niyang tumingin sakanya.

"What? I saw funny memes on facebook," he reasoned kahit naman alam kong he laughed because he was teasing me.

"You're sick? Do you feel better now?" The Chairman said and he looked so concerned that it almost touched my heart. Ngumiti ako at umiling.

"Yes, Chairman. I feel better now," I replied. Mr. Chairman is so nice to me kaya I felt guilty for lying about yesterday.

"Good. Anyways, did Maxon tell you what we talked about during the meeting?" The Chairman asked. I looked at Mr. CEO at umiling because wala pa naman siyang nasasabi sakin.

"I haven't talked to her about that, but I was about to--" Max said but immediately stopped when his phone rang.

"I'll just take this call," he said and his father nodded. Kinuha niya ito and excused himself at saka pumasok sa office niya.

Tumikhim si Mr. Chairman and he stood up at saka lumapit sa table ko.

"Well, all our investors approved of your proposal," he said as he got up from the sofa. "And with that, you are going to a business trip to find a good location for our new mall. You will lead the trip."

My face lit up out of excitement. I knew that my proposal will be approved but hindi ko inakalang I will be the one to lead it! Agad akong lumakad papalapit kay Chairman.
