Chapter 60

Chapter 61 is the final chapter before the epilogue. We're down to the last 2 before the end of this story. Almost there!

This chapter will open some things that are part of the other Limjuaco series that I will soon write. As of now, Taming the Misandrist (Marco's story) will be my focus after TMBT.

Chapter 60
Event

"Shit," I cussed as my phone fell on the floor because I'm shaking sa sobrang kaba. I was about to reply to Max's texts dahil kanina pa siya nag-tatanong kung nasaan ako.

In 30 minutes, dadating na dito si Dos para sunduin ako like what we have planned with his other cousins last night. I'm not even ready yet. My hands are shaking and my heart is pounding. Lumalamig na rin ang pawis ko and I don't feel prepared at all.

Red immediately picked up my phone and handed it to me. "You gotta chill."

I sighed as I closed my eyes and tried to count my breaths. My heart is palpitating and I couldn't focus! It's really happening! In the next few hours, I'd be standing in front of Max's family, without him knowing!

"Keep calm! Lalo kang kakabahan kapag inisip mo. Just think of happy thoughts," Cassie said beside me when she saw my nervous face.

Kakauwi lang nila ni Red from their vacation kagabi. Ngayon ay nandito sila with Vee and Jane because I called them for help. I told them everything about what happened and also my plan for today.

"Max's family is so strict with their events, how would you--" Red was about to say something pero agad siya sinamaan ng tingin ni Cassie.

"Shhh!" My three bestfriends said in unison. Napataas nalang si Red ng kamay sa sobrang gulat sa reaction nila.

"I'm just asking!"

I sighed again. I don't know what will happen earlier. Ang alam ko lang ay ang theme and details ng party. The party will be held in Shangri-La, the theme is black and gold. Almost all of their powerful business partners would be there as well, I don't even know why.

I wore my black fitted dress with a slit on my legs. Vee is still fixing my hair while Cassie is doing my make-up. Hindi na nga dapat ako mag-aayos pa but they forced me to.

"He's right," I told them. "Yun din ang nasa isip ko. How would I do it? I might--"

"Ria! Ano ba," Jane said. "You can do it. Alright? Just believe in yourself. You know you can do it! Besides, Max won't leave your side kahit ano man maging reaction nila."

"Jane's right. And remember sabi mo before kung darating ang time na to, you'll tell them everything right? Now's the chance. Take it," Vee added.

I looked down on my phone to look at my home screen. It's a picture of Max and I in his car while he was busy driving. I know he fought for me before.. I guess now is my turn to do that.

It's so hard to be brave knowing that you're really not. You can pretend but for how long? I can pretend to be strong while I talk to them but I'm scared na baka mawala iyon lahat kapag sinabihan na nila ako ng mga masasakit na salita katulad ng dati. I have my limit. Words can either make me or break me.

Max's name popped up on my phone. He's calling me. Kaninang umaga kasi he told me he'd be busy at ganon rin ang sinabi ko para hindi siya mag-taka sa whereabouts ko. I told him I'm finishing the papers for Soleado.

"Hello baby? Where are you?" Max asked when I picked up.

I signaled everyone that I'm talking to Max and they all nodded. Binalik ko ang attention ko sa tawag.
