Chapter 59
Cousins

I heaved a long sigh as I wiped off my tears. I can't give up. I have to fight for us no matter how exhausted I am with what's happening around me. Yun ang nasa isip ko pag-sarado ng elevator leaving Max's grandparents inside the office.

I have to prove to them that I deserve Max. I know they are good people, takot lang sila para sa apo nila and I understand that. Alam ko kung san sila nangagaling.

I know I did something that they didn't like years ago, and I can't expect them to be fine with it now. I have to do something to make them see me way beyond my mistakes.

It took me awhile to realize what I needed to do. But when I finally figured out a way how to fix all this mess, naisip kong dapat gawin ko na ito kaagad. It's still blurry and unplanned, a bit rushed but it will do. I know what I have to do anyway and that's what's important. I'll do it tomorrow.

I immediately called a person who can help me with my plans. I need someone to help me through it all and he's the perfect person.

"Hello?" He said on the other line when he finally picked up after a few rings.

"Marco," I said. "Remember when you said I owe you a favor? I really need your help now."

I came to the restaurant earlier than the said time. When I left the office, dito kaagad ako dumeretcho. I explained everything to Marco while we were on call, at sabi ko sakanyang itutuloy ko nalang kapag nag-kita na kami.

I don't have that much time. I need to act now because this is my only chance. Tomorrow is my only chance.

Max was texting me pero nakalimutan ko na mag-reply. It's okay though, because he's busy. Kasama niya ata ang Dad niya because when I called Marco kanina, he told me umuwi na sila magpipinsan.

I don't want to tell him what happened earlier because I know he will worry and I don't want that. I sighed. I just hope this plan of mine won't come out as rushed tomorrow.

My thoughts were interrupted ng biglang mag-ring ang phone ko. It was Max.

"Hello?"

"Hi baby," he said huskily on the other line.

It's already 8 in the evening. I haven't asked kung nasan siya but he sounds so exhausted.

"Tired?" I asked.

"Mm-hmm," he said. "I'm on the way home already. Do you want me to go to your place first?"

Ngumiti ako. He knows he's already tired but gusto pa niyang pumunta pa muna sakin. Hearing his tired, husky voice makes me want to go to him and cuddle him.

"No, umuwi kana. May family event pa kayo bukas di ba?"

"Okay baby. You sure you don't want to come with me?"

"I can't. I still have papers to finish for Soleado. And oh! You need to sign it already para makabalik na tayo doon."

He chuckled. "You really like it there, huh?"

"Yeah! I want to watch the sunset with you again," I told him.

Even though it's a long drive papunta doon, the view, place and everything about Soleado is worth it.

"I can take you there anytime you want baby, just tell me."

A familiar figure appeared on the entrance of the restaurant. I sat by the window and his chinky eyes immediately searched for me.
