It was dark outside, and all I could hear was the persisting sound of crickets and the occasional barks of dogs. But what I couldn't hear was the sound of someone walking up the front steps of my house and tampering with the door knob. I was currently texting Sangyeon, who happened to be my boyfriend, and was lying on my bed.

Sangyeon:
Y/N~~~ Wanna meet tomorrow?

Me:
Tomorrow? Nah, can't. Have this stupid family thing to go to

Sangyeon:
Aw :( but how about the weekend?

Me:
Yeah, I'm free

Sangyeon:
Good! Y/N, I heard there's this murderer going around people's neighborhoods and finding out which house belongs to a girl.............. then breaking in and killing them. I heard that the person had this thing in the past with his ex girlfriend. Stay safe, aight?

Me:
Aw, you're cute when you worry. Don't worry too much, Sangyeon. I'm strong! I can beat up just about anyone that dare lays their hand on me.

Sangyeon:
Haha alright. Good night!

Me:
Sweet dreams ;)

I exited out of the messaging app and yawned. I lived in a house by myself. It wasn't a huge house nor was it luxurious, and it fitted my style. I then heard hefty footsteps as someone wandered around the house. I heard the clanging of metal and the bangs of doors. I froze up. Was someone trespassing? I prayed that I was just hallucinating the sounds.

I buried myself under my blankets, keeping the phone on. I pressed the call button, prepared to dial 911 if someone was intruding. Then footsteps became louder as they came up the steps. I squeezed my eyes shut. Please let this nightmare pass. I huddled up and opened my eyes after a long, intense silence. Was it safe?

I slightly pushed the blankets down and peeked out, only to meet the gaze of a man. He had a scraggly beard and gloomy eyes. He represented a crazed man. And in his hand, he held one of the kitchen knives from my kitchen. I screamed and rolled off the bed the opposite side and fell on the floor with a thud. "Come back here~" I heard a deep voice coo. I crawled under my bed and opened my phone up.

I was about to press 911 when I felt a cold hand grab my foot and drag me out. Pain shot up from my foot all the way up by body as a sharp edge cut through my skin. I frantically tapped my screen and the buzzing from my phone resounded in my ears. Did I press 911? I heard a voice ask from the other side of the line, "Y/N, you're still up? What is it?" It was Sangyeon, and not the police. I dropped my phone under my bed as I was hauled out from underneath.

I flailed and kicked around, but I was restrained by the hands of the murderer. "Help! Sangyeon! Help!" I screeched, but a hand clasped over my mouth, muffling my helpless shrieks. "Y/N?! Y/N?! What is it?! Should I come over?" Sangyeon's concerned and panicked voice was heard. The murderer had a sly and devious smile pasted onto his face. "Is that your boyfriend?" The sickly voice sent shivers down my spine. I didn't respond. Instead, I chomped down on the stranger's skin, causing him to yelp and release me.

I was weakened due to the deep cut in my left foot. I hobbled to the door. "Sangyeon! Come to my house and call the police. Now!" I hollered before I limped to the stairs. I attempted to go down one by one. I left a trail of blood behind me, staining the carpet red. My attacker shouted and screamed at me, cursing loudly. I tried to hurry, but ended up tripping and tumbling down the stairs. I was now lying on the ground weakly. I heaved myself up, forcing myself to continue to the front door after hearing the hustled footsteps.

The murderer grabbed my hair and sawed a chunk off with his knife before using his other hand and twisting my arms back. I screamed until I lost my voice as I turned my head back, horror reflected in my eyes as the murderer raised his gleaming knife and was prepared to swing down mercilessly. I squirmed around, but I could barely move. The wound on my foot was hurting like crazy, and the blood flow increased.

Then I heard a frantic voice outside of the door. "Y/N! Are you in here?" It was Sangyeon. I didn't know I'd feel this much relief in my life. "Help! Sangyeon!" I cried out. The murderer's head snapped up and let go of me, storming to the door and yanking it open to reveal a very surprised Sangyeon. His expression darkened as he saw the man with the knife twirled around in his hand. "What did you do to Y/N?" Sangyeon punched the murderer, causing him to drop the knife onto the ground.

I crawled forward and snatched the knife. I drew my hand back and pulled it forward, digging the blade into the murderer's calf. "Did you call the police?" I panted. "Yeah! They'll be here any minute now. Help me knock him out!" Sangyeon shouted over the painful cries of the murderer. I looked around and found a vase, reaching up and grabbing it then handing it to Sangyeon, who nodded to me and smashed the glass onto his head. The man dropped to the ground limply after his eyes rolled to the back of his head.

I was then helped up by Sangyeon, who stared at the unconscious body of the intruder. "Did he hurt you?" He whispered to me, rubbing my arm comfortingly. I was frozen in shock. Everything happened so fast. Adrenaline pumped through my veins. I pointed to my wounded, bloodied foot then to my unevenly cut hair. There was a shallow slash in the back of my neck. I began to cry. The tears I had been containing came pouring out endlessly. I wrapped my arms around Sangyeon and rested my face against his chest, while he patted my back.

There were sirens everywhere, and the police arrived to interrogate me and Sangyeon before dragging away the murderer. The police thanked us before driving off with the murderer in handcuffs. I wiped my tears in my sleeves. "Y/N... Let's go to my house. I'll get your wounds treated for you," He said to me in a quiet voice, knowing I was still sensitive to what just happened. I nodded and he aided me as I limped out of my house and entered his car, where he drove me to his own house which was the neighborhood next to mine. That was the reason he came so quickly.

"Sangyeon, thank you," I murmured to him in the passenger's seat before falling asleep.

I awoke. I was in my house. On my bed. With moonlight shining right through my window. Huh? How'd I get here? My phone was in front of me. What...?

A text arrived from Sangyeon.

Sangyeon:
Y/N~~~ Wanna meet tomorrow?
