Saturday afternoon.

The birds called for her on repeat, like an annoying alarm that no one could turn off but nature itself. The wind scathed through the trees, the branches violently swinging and crying out as the merciless wind tossed and turned the leaves.

The sunlight flitted through the trees like a butterfly's wings. It was warm and encased her like a mother's embrace, making her feel at ease. She didn't want to wake up from this sweet slumber. The dream that made her feel unstoppable.

Her feet filed through the soft grass, feeling the blades tickle her bare skin as she walked aimlessly through, wandering like a lost child, but she didn't mind it, the feeling of being lost and alone. In fact, it felt somewhat welcoming.

The birds continued chanting and the chitchat of other critters came to her ears as a song. The howling wind added into the chorus as well as the whistling trees and the murmurs of the stream. It was a song that she didn't want to end.

Then suddenly,

BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP.

Groaning, Hyunmi turned over on her bed, her eyes squeezed shut, breaking out of her sleep. "God, what time is it?" She hoarsely said aloud, feeling around on her nightstand for her alarm clock.

Finally feeling the metal on her fingertips, she slammed down with her hand and turned the sound off.

Disappointed that she couldn't return to her pleasant dream she was having, she forced herself to open her eyes, even though her body simply refused to oblige.

Hyunmi peeked through her heavy eyelids and managed to catch a glimpse of the time. 12:30.

She shrugged it off and flipped over, wrapping herself in her blanket like a burrito and burying her face into her pillow, wanting to sleep more even though it was late as is.

The moment she was about to slip back into sleep, suddenly a thought hit her head like a bullet. That was when she lurched awake and rubbed her eyes.

"Oh my god, I need to go."

Swiftly, Hyunmi did her usual routine and nabbed her bag with all her necessities for going out inside. She slipped into her sneakers and slammed open the front door, hearing a loud bang as the doorknob crashed into the brick wall.

Wincing at the sound, she strode out from the door and closed it gently behind her.

Hyunmi broke out into a sprint and flailed her arms around wildly above her head at the side of the road, catching the attention of a taxi driver who pulled over next to the curb.

"Thank you," She panted, seating herself at the back.

"In a hurry, miss?" The taxi driver asked, looking into the rear view mirror at the girl.

"Kind of. Can you take me to the X's Cafe? Here's the address," Hyunmi requested, leaning forward with her phone to show the driver the address to the cafe she was supposed to go to today.

The driver obliged and began driving, and after fifteen minutes or so of Hyunmi scrolling through some of her updated Webtoons and squealing (to herself) about how handsome the fictional boys were, she had arrived.

Thanking the driver and paying him, she exited the car, watching it zoom off into the distance along with a trail of other cars on the road, then hurrying to the cafe right in front of her.
