Finally he pressing the button for the bus to stop and we get off. I look around and notice we're at a fair. It was rides and candy floss and rides and lollies! My face lit up like little girl on Christmas day and I get excited "OMG the fair!" I shout and jasper grabs my hand and drags me to the ticket box.
This time he lets me pay for myself but only after a good 10 minute argument which the ticket person ended for us by telling us to just pay for your fucking tickets, so we did and laughed the whole way in. I stopped and looked around, the lights were flashing and the excitement was in the air. I didn't know where to go to first so Jasper decided for us. He gripped my hand in his and we went to the first ride. We got our tickets and waited in line with everybody else. Ride after ride we went on, time flew by and I'd totally forgotten about my date night. This was way better, we laughed, we cried and ate as much candy floss as our stomachs would allow. It was almost time to catch the bus and there was one ride left that we hadn't gotten on "Wanna ride the Ferris Wheel?" I asked and Jasper smile
"I'll race you to the ticket box" and before I could answer he'd run off
"HEY!" I screamed after him but he was too far now so I ran as fast as my legs would go but he still beat me and get this had my ticket waiting for me when I got there.
I ripped it from his hand "Cheater!" he laughed as we got on the ride.
Jasper sat across from me and we smiled at each other until we got high enough and the ride stopped. I looked around and we could see the lights of our whole town and it was beautiful "wow" i whispered
"I know right" Jasper said across from me
"I love it up here, it's so peaceful and quiet. Nothing could destroy this moment!"
"Not even your boyfriend?"
"Ah?" I looked at jasper who had my phone, the name on the screen said 'Jamal' with a little love heart next to it.
He handed it over and my heart dropped. I wasn't sure I was ready to hear what he had to say? I mean the night started out shit but was ending with a huge bang and I was happy. I looked at Jasper and saw the hurt in his eyes, he'd tried so hard to make this night special for me and I wasn't going to let this spoil it for us so I handed back the phone "Hear. I'll talk to him tomorrow and he can explain why he stood me up"
"You sure?" he asked and I nodded
"Okay?" he placed the phone back in his pocket and we sat back in our chairs and just enjoyed the view as the wheel slowly rotated around.
Jasper got me home at midnight. We just caught the last bus home. We were laughing as we made our way to my porch when I noticed Jamal's car in the driveway and as I did we both hear his voice "Brook! Where have you been? I've been trying to call?' he sounded worried "I was with Jasper at the fair, having fun. Sorry I think my phone's on silent?" I look down at my pockets and realise Jasper still has my phone - shit.
If Jamal sees he has it he might time he deliberately ignored all his calls. Yeah all his calls, he kept ringing and Jasper told me to answer but I refused each time. Now he still had it and Jamal was asking why and I couldn't show him because I didn't have it? Jamal looked at Jasper "Hey man, I thought you were meant to be at Toby's party?" Jasper smiled like he always did and said
"Yeah but April dumped me and couldn't pick me up so I came here hoping to catch a ride from you but you never showed so I took B out. Hope you don't mind man. I was just trying to cheer her up?" Jamal looked from jasper to me before nodding
"Sure man, yeah thanks"
"Anytime. Happy to help you out bro" Jasper says and Jamal ends up shaking his hand
