"Is there another Jemaverse or something?  You came back late again!" Carlos was saying once I woke up.
"Calm yourself Car, it's nothing, just a bat." I said back.
We were in my room, I was laying down in my bed while Carlos was sitting in a chair next to it.
"A bat?!" Repeated Carlos?
"Yeah, huge bat swooped down, talked about stuff, then he climbed back up."
Carlos stared at me dumbfounded, with an open mouth.
"You claim... That you were talking... With a bat?" He said, processing each word.
"Yup, a bat.  A pretty grumpy one too."
"But... That makes no sense at all."
"If it makes no sense how did it happen?"
Carlos thought.
"Hallucinations?"
"What?  No!  I wasn't hallucinating.  A lot of strange things happened so far you should be able to believe this one."
Carlos made his thinking face again and responded, "Fine."
I got out of bed and ran downstairs while Carlos followed.
"Mom's at work." Said Carlos.
"What?!  I could've slept more!"
"And also could've had a hard time getting back." Countered Carlos.
"Well I'mma go outside and practice my swording skillets."
"Does it even work in the real world?" Carlos asked.
"It should..."
I walked outside and Carlos followed and I walked into an open space.  I made my sword appear in my hand and it worked.
"So it does work!" I exclaimed.
My hand sparked and I felt a pinch and the sword flared.
"Woah!" I said making it quickly disappear.
"I guess I won't be practicing with it today." I sulked.
Carlos seemed to find it pretty funny.  I did too being honest.  I followed Carlos inside to play videogames, since it was the last day of the week I could.  Our mom and dad don't want us playing videogames on schooldays.  And today, was Sunday.
Lord Mare was in the Marescape.  He had just taken The Book of Gems, and all he needed next were the actual four gems.  The fire, earth, water and air gems.  He had to tell his associate about this.  He'd be so proud.  However, Mare's associate seems to deeply hate it when Mare acts as an equal.  He called him partner once, and he flipped!
"Don't worry, with us as partners, we ca-" Mare was saying until he interrupted him.
In his deep and unintentionally seeming demonic voice, he says, "Partners?!  You think we're equals?  I can end your life in seconds if I wanted to.  In less than seconds.  But you deem most capable of fulfilling this simple task.  If you prove me wrong, Mare, I won't need you anymore.  And I'll have no reason not to kill you.  Leave my sight before your presence starts to annoy me."
At that point, all Mare could let out was, "Yes sir of course."
Then he left.
That was about two weeks ago in Dreamaverse time.  Mare is sure he was probably grumpy at the time.  He didn't mean it, he thought.  But if he did, Mare knew he better not fail him.
He was in his Marescape tower, floating through a hallway full of his smartest Shadowman working on making his Nightmare army stronger.  He has captured species from different dimensions and most experiments he had them on studying the Species compatibility with his shadow virus.  And how it'd react to it and stuff.  He wasn't really sure, but he was sure his shadowmen probably had that knowledge part covered.  He floated over to a room that was illuminated in purple lighting, and walked to a control panel in the front.  There was a screen above it Mare had turned on, and with a push of some numbers, his boss was audible.
"Mare." He said in a deep voice.
"Hold up," Mare responded, "Just gotta..."
Mare felt very embarrassed.  The screen always did this.  The screen was blank, but the mic and audio was working.  He looked back to see a Shadowman walking past the door and stopped him.
"Hey!!!  You!!!  Stop right where you are!" Said Mare.
The Shadowman looked like he was inches away from a heart attack it jumped so high.  If it was human, I'm sure sweat and fear would be shown on it's face.
"Come over here and fix this thing, and I guess I'll consider not killing you!"
"Oh.. okay, thank you Lord Mare, so much." Said the scared Shadowman.
It floated over to the control panel and pushed a button and the screen turned on.
"There you g-" The Shadowman was about to say until Mare killed it with a deathly ball of shadow.
The man smiled, then the smile quickly dispersed into a neutral, blank expression.
"Mare," Said the man, "Your late to contact me."
"Yes, I'm sorry master." Mare answered.
"Please, call me lord."
"But you told me master last week."
"And I said sir the week before that.  If you haven't noticed, my mind changes pretty frequently."
"Yes, I do see my Lord."
"Good.  Now do you have any reasons for me not to kill you this week?"
Mare's boss had told him that if Mare were to contact him which was once a week, he'd need to have a reason for his boss not to kill him.  Mare wasn't sure if he was serious, but it was relieving that he had a really good reason.
"I, um, have this!" Mare said nervously as he held up the book.
His bosses white, bright eyes lit up when he saw the book.
"No..." He said.
"Oh yes!  I stole it from a very powerful group of people." Mare bragged.
"The four gems.  The Guardians, I want them destroyed.  Collect the four gems, and give them all to me.  I want this done."
"Why yes of course!" Mare said confidently.
The purple light in the room went dim and it started flashing red and an alarm went off.
"What's that?" His boss asked.
"Oh um probably nothing," Mare said in a shaky, nervous voice, "I bet it's um... My cookies, I bet they're ready so... I'mma go bye!" Mare hung up and went towards the hallway cursing at the Shadowmen under his breath.
"Gah, those idiots!" He said.
