Blue Gem Pursuit

Dill opened his eyes as the debris and dust cleared from the air.  He accidentally inhaled some of the dust that he had to cough out as he stood back up.  He was sitting on a piece of fallen wall and was behind the broken entrance of the school.  He still had the blue gem in his right hand.  He shook his head to rid it of the dust resting on his head and walked to the edge of the broken wall.  He jumped to the marble ground covered with tiny pieces of wall and dust.  He looked to both sides of him.  He saw that the hallway was empty on one side, and he turned his head toward the broken glass doors.  He was a shadow shooting full speed towards him.  It took a moment to register and a scared expression shone on his face.  He dove to the ground on the left of him and lay on the floor.  He watched the shadow fly through the doors, knocking them off the hinges.  It sped a short distance past Dill and stopped and stared at him.  It was Lord Mare.
"Give me the gem, you know you can't beat me," said Mare, "You and me know your scared of me."
Dill thought for a moment as everything seemed to stand still.  He slowly and unnoticeably moved his hand towards his back.
"Actually," Dill responded, "I'm pretty sure you and me, both know, only moles are afraid of shadows."
Mare stared at Dill in confusion before saying, "Uh... You meant groundhogs."
Dill hesitated for a second, then pulled his hoverboard from his back.
"Actually I totally meant moles," said Dill, "I said it to distract you... Duh."
He jumped on his hoverboard and flew from the school through where the glass doors used to be.
Mare failed to hide his anger and flew after him.
"You shouldn't have left him by himself!" Kiki yelled to Pat.
"Oh... My bad?" Pat responded.
"Come on, we gotta see if he's okay."
Kiki ran to the turn in the hallway and Pat was too slow for her to wait for him.  She took the turn and left Pat behind.  She ran to the entrance and saw that Dill was gone.
"Ah, pickles." Said a worried Kiki.
Pat ran up behind her, "Pickles are actually pretty good you know." He said while crouching, trying to catch his breath.
Kiki ignored him and walked outside.  She looked up and saw Mare chasing something in the sky.  They were going pretty fast and the thing he was chasing had impressive navigating for a speed that high.  It took a while for Kiki to realise, but that was Dill, on his hoverboard.
"Dill, come down here before you get hurt!!!" Kiki yelled.  She ran towards the chase and kept yelling to him even though he obviously couldn't hear her.  She saw him reach into his back and pull out a can.  She stopped running towards them and watched him drinking Spindex soda while being chased by Mare.  Kiki couldn't help a little laugh.  Dill was probably stress drinking, she thought.  She got worried when she saw more Shadowmen join Mare trying to catch Dill.  She started running towards him again, yelling his name.
Dill was scared.  Real scared.  He started drinking his favorite soda he had with him to clear his dried throat.  He looked back to see more shadowmen behind him and nearly choked on the soda.  He lowered himself to avoid an electric wire that stretched from one house to the other.  Then he went up again just to make himself look cooler.  As he went up he went to take a sip of his soda, but due to gravity, it was spilling on the shadowmen behind him.  The can emptied, and Dill realized how no one would probably care for litter during a planetary invasion, so he threw the can behind him.  The can hit a shadowman and it fell all the way down to the ground and turned to a cloud.  Dill was going straight now, flying right above building's rooftops.  He took out another soda and opened it.  It sprayed all over him and he threw it behind him to stop it from getting all over his face.  He looked back and the shadowmen had stopped, hands on their not even visible eyes, trying to rub out the soda.  He luckily had hit Mare square in the face with the can and Mare fell on the roof of a building.  Dill chuckled as Mare didn't even try to hide the anger on his face.  Dill was forced to speed up as the angry Mare gained his speed.  Dill's hoverboard wasn't nearly as fast as Mare.  In a few seconds, Mare was eventually right next to Dill.  Dill tried shaking him off by swerving and weaving through obstacles but Mare was still on him.  Mare went to fly right into Dill, but Dill had saw it already coming.  He flew up and Mare flew under him, now on the other side of Dill.  Mare held out his hand and Dill flew towards a tall building.  Dill knew what was coming... But Mare didn't.  As the ball of shadow formed in Mare's hand, he flew vertically up the side of the building.  Mare, however, ran straight into a window in the building.  Dill laughed as he watched Mare disappear through the window and reached the top of the building.  He landed his hoverboard on the top of it and jumped off.  He stashed it back inside of his back and waited for Kiki to reach him.  Kiki was on the street and Dill was surprised at her amazing parkour.  She jumped on to a green dumpster, back flipped onto a building with a low roof, jumped on to the tall building the dumpster was against, then pushed off of it, landing an amazing cartwheel flip on the taller building next to the shorter one she was previously on.  She ran immediately after landing and jumped a great gap between buildings with a front flip.  Dill walked to the edge of the building he was on to see Kiki running up it.  She ran a couple feet and hung on a windowsill.  Her pink and black furry tail started spinning and lifted her up.  Her tail flew her all the way to the top, and Dill stared at her, a surprised look on his face.
"What?" Asked Kiki.
"You can fly?"
"Yeah, duh."
"How come you haven't done it often?"
"Do you think spinning my tail around at that speed comes without effort?  It's a hard and painful thing to do."
"Oh... Okay." Dill responded.
Mare emerged from the building, opposite side he'd been smashed right through.  He seemed ready to attack, but thought better when he saw more of his foes approaching.  Me, Carlos, Kiara and Kip had already defeated most of Mare's army of Nightmares.  We had saw Mare and Dill's battle in the sky and had ran towards they position.  Leaving Carlos and Kiara wondering how to climb up themselves, Kip and I used what I like to describe as, immense skill, to climb up the buildings.  Mare knew he couldn't face all of them alone.  He should've sent more Nightmares, but he wanted them saved for capturing of the other gems.  He can only generate so many at a time in his Marescape tower.  Kip phased into just a shadow onto the side of the building.  The shadow made it's way quickly up the side  of the building.  I used the strength of my shadows to jump onto a green dumpster with ease, and back flip onto the building it's side with the same amount of difficulty.  I ran along the short building to the taller one and thought for a moment.  I couldn't jump up there, it was too high, even with the extra strength my shadows added to me.  I thought back to my previous moves, and I swore a light bulb had lit above my head.  I jumped up and twisted to the side, sword still in hand.  My arms were straight out to my sides and my body was parallel to the ground.  These shadows, they gave me so much confidence, without them I wouldn't be able to try a stunt like this without wetting my pants.  Actually, I wouldn't try a move like this in the first place.  My sword was pointed upward and I forced a line, a whip, of shadow out of it's end.  I stretched it as much as I could and it expanded more and more.  In the amount of time given, it only could reach a windowsill near the top of the building.  But that seemed good enough.  Still in midair, I twisted and pulled the sword downward, bringing myself up.  It was like a grappling hook.  At the same time I forced the whip of shadow to retract back into the darkened sword.  I was launched up at great speed an flew up past the windowsill that the end of the whip once grappled.  I noticed a ball of blackness hit the building below me and noticed Mare had thrown and missed a flame of shadow that he directed towards me.  I did about two sideways flips before straightening out.  I landed on the surface of the tall building, and at the same moment the shadow of Kip had traveled to my side and rose from 2D, back to 4D.  Mare said something, most likely a swear to express his anger, under his breath.  I ran towards him, ready to strike but he unexpectedly retreated.  I heard a *clang* and a quiet humming at the edge of the building.  I didn't really bother to look back, Kip, Dill and Kiki I knew were perfectly capable of handling things.  I watched Mare float up into the blackened sky above.  About two Shadowmen had followed him up.  I finally looked behind me to see Kiara emerge from the side of the building, carrying Carlos with one hand and holding onto a grappling gun with the other.
"You have a grappling hook?" I asked.
"You have a magic sword?" She countered.
"I guess, but you've known about that since you've met me!"
"Fair point."
Everyone looked to Kiki as she spoke, "Thanks for... Helping.  But we've got some gems to find."
"And we're going to help!" I said with much enthusiasm.
"Uh... Well oka-" Kiki was about to say.
A voice from inside of my pocket interrupted.
"Actually, let them handle the gems," said Tom, "I think we have a problem on a slightly... Larger scale, that we have to deal with."
"What can be larger than the death of all Dreamaverses," Argued Kiara, "which will result in death for all of the living on Earth, if you've forgotten."
"You'll see when I tell you." Tom responded.
"I'll keep watch on Dill with the blue gem.  Bye guys." Kiki said as a green and purple portal opened beside her.  We watched as Kiki, Kip, and Dill went through.
