Almost Paradise

Right away we saw Tikis, almost identical to Jay, walking around.  They all seemed to be carrying out jobs, one carrying wood, another straw, another hopping around and looking happy.  Okay, maybe not all of them had jobs.
"Woah!" I heard Carlos say.
Jay climbed up into Alex's backpack and we allowed her to take lead.  She took a left along the stone path and walked straight, waving to the Tikis passing by.
"Where are we going?" Asked Kiara.
"Where even are we?!?!" Asked Carlos... Again.
"I'm taking you guys to a place you can stay." She answered.
"Stay?!" Carlos said, almost choking on air.
"Yeah, don't worry, it's a nice place."
"We aren't staying, are we?" Carlos asked us.
"There's no way out, besides the ship thing through the dark forest, but a person would have to be stupid to go even an inch in those woods." Alex explained.
Kiara nodded to us without Alex noticing, telling us that's our way out.  Alex led us pretty far until stopping at what looked like a resort.  The top was still being worked on by To, but besides that it had about five floors completely made.
"You guys can have the whole second flo-" The ground shook again before Alex could finish her sentence.
"Hm." She thought.
"Don't worry, we can find out what's causing those." I said assuringly.
"You can?"
"We can?" Said Carlos and Alex at the same time.
"I think." I said, now questioning my own statement.
"Of course we can!" Said Kiara.
"Okay then." Said Alex, still unsure.
To the left of the building we were put in was the big crack in the ground.  It seemed to stretch out real far.  I thought I saw something red move in it, and as the others walked inside, I ran after Alex.  I caught up with her and tapped her shoulder.
"Hey Alex."
"Yeah?"
"Where'd that crack come from?" I questioned, pointing at the big crack.
Jay, still in her backpack, shook his head and made gestures I didn't understand.  Alex ignored them.
"Not sure, the Tiki sure don't like it though.  They go crazy when it's mentioned," Alex answered, "so I don't bother with it."
"Hm," I thought, then a deep growl came from inside the crack of the surface, "maybe we should bother with it.  You stay here."
"No."
"Huh?"
"I'm coming with."
"I'm sorry, but I think if you die, the world around us will too.  I don't wanna risk that."
"That's why you have my back, and I can have yours.  It's better than going alone."
I thought for a while. "Fine," I decided, "you can come with.  I'll get the rest of the tea-"
"No, just us.  The others don't need come along."
"Well, okay.  Let's go then." I shrugged.
We ran over to the edge of the big crack to see a huge drop down.
"That's uhh... Long way down." I said, feeling myself back away.
"Jay can take us down," Alex said, "come on."
"Hm?"
Before I can react, she ran over, grabbed me, and jumped off the edge.  I involuntarily screamed as Jay pulled something out of Alex's bag.  He pulled out a piece of blue clothe and it extended out like a parachute, slowing our fall.  I stopped screaming as we floated down, deeper and deeper.  As we went down, we passed by metal structures, rusted and stained with red.
"Woah!" I exclaimed as I saw a huge cage, stuck in the wall of the crack.
A rawr echoed through the crack, making me scared of what might be down there.  Especially scared at my inability to use my darkened sword.  Hopefully that was only temporary.  After a while of floating, we we're finally nearing the end.  Below us we saw a bunch of red, almost demon-like people.  They carried golden tridents and had on black helmets with an orange stripe going down the middle.  On each side of the helmet were horns such as a Sharp-Wing's, but both broken.  Instead of noses they had two holes, and wore no clothing.  They looked like demons, without the flying or tails.  They were pretty scrawny, and clumsey.  I saw about three of them faceplant in only a few seconds.  Luckily, I successfully resisted the urge to laugh.  We heard the rawr again, coming from deeper in the crack.  We had to move now tho, because we were heading right in the middle of a thousand unknown species.  Jay handed Alex a part of the parachute as he stretched an arm to the wall and grappled on.  He rested us on an indent in the wall as we scouted over the red people trying on helmets and equipping their tridents.
"What is this?" Alex questioned.
"Kinda looks like a cult to me," I suggested, "consisting of people who paint themselves red.  And cut off noses... And...  Maybe we're too far to see that they're wearing red footie pajamas and going to some movie premiere?"
"Eh, seems far fetched."
The ground shook and another roar thundered through the walls of the hole.
"I think that's what's causing the shaking.  We should see what it is." I whispered.
The red people below us had went silent and gathered in a close circle, with occasional whispers to each other.  They we're gathering at some platform, stage-like thing, waiting for something to come out.  Then the something came.  He was an almost an exact copy of all the rest, besides his malicious looking, black mustache under the holes where his nose should be.  He wore a red royal cape and crown made for a prince.  He walked out and sat on a chair, that I guess you can call a throne of some sort.  He looked around, over all of the others, and rose his right, red hand.
"Who's he?" I questioned silently.
"I, honestly don't know." Responded Alex.
"Attention, fellow Redemon," He started, his voice deep and full of authority and confidence, "your king is here."
