“Demi just cancel your last appointment and go spend time with your daughter, I’m pretty sure she’s utterly confused right now and you need the break,” Sel ordered, “They’re five minutes late and it doesn’t look as if they’re coming anyway.”
Demi released a long sigh but nodded in agreement and packed her work items away into her handbag. She bid goodbye to Sel and climbed into her car, as she turned the corner she noticed city hall standing there in all of its pride and glory. Thinking about her daughter she pulled into a space and entered the building, her heels clicking against the polished floor. She approached the desk and an elderly woman approached her and smiled brightly.
“City Hall, how can we help you?” she asked, talking professionally and politely.
“Erm, I was wondering if you had any information on a girl named Rosabella, she’s my daughter but I’m trying to find her previous family,” Demi explained.
“Okay, let me just search through our records,” she told Demi as she quickly moved her fingers across the keys.
She shook her head and looked up to Demi, “Sorry mam, there’s nothing here on anyone named Rosabella.”
“Thank you,” Demi smiled before leaving city hall and climbing back into her car.
She banged her head on the steering wheel before ramming her key into the ignition and allowing the car to roar to life underneath her. Demi made her way to her mothers where she found Rosabella playing outside with a jump rope.
“Mommy!” Rosabella called, running to her quickly and wrapping her arms around her mother’s legs.
“Have you had a good day?” Demi asked.
Rosabella nodded enthusiastically and Demi waved to her mother before climbing into the car with Rosabella and helping her strap her in.
“Do you want to go for ice-cream?” Demi offered and her daughter nodded her head enthusiastically.
“Was that good Rosie?” Demi questioned, finishing the last of her own ice-cream sundae.
“Yeah,” she yelled excitedly and Demi laughed.
From the corner of her eye Demi spotted someone she recognised from the corner of her eye.
“Joe!” she called.
But he didn’t turn around; he just left the ice-cream shop with the bell ringing as he left. Rosabella pointed frantically at Joe and Demi looked at her daughter confused. Was she remembering Joe from her past before Demi got them?
“He gave me dolly!” she called.
So it was him in the supermarket. Demi frowned as Joe broke into a run and turned the corner away from view. She shook her head before approaching the counter with her purse ready.
“Oh no you don’t need to pay, that man already paid for you,” the man in the cheesy sundae hat told her and Demi frowned before turning back to where Joe was seconds ago.
“Oh,” Demi stated, “Thanks anyway.”
“Who is he?” Rosabella asked.
“I don’t know Rosie, do you remember him,” and she shook her head.
“He just gave me dolly,” she smiled brightly.
“Okay Rosie, maybe he’s just your guardian angel,” Demi smiled at her daughter and Rosabella nodded enthusiastically.
How was Joe related to Rosabella?
