Shift in Sound || A Jemi Love Story

Episode 31- First and last

Nick wakes up early that next morning for the several time through the night to the sound of his son crying showing them that he is demanding something. He somehow likes the sound though even if he did wake him up at five in the morning. He sits up on the couch smiling when he sees his fiancé holding his son, he watches her every move as she checks his diaper discovering that it is clean before laying back down on the bed allowing Carter to feed from her breast. The smile doesn't leave his face, she is just so amazing with him already and it's been less than a day.

"No point going back to sleep is there?" Selena questions knowing he was watching her but didn't mind. Nick shook his head as he gave her the answer.

"Not really, he'll want feeding soon anyway." Nick explains.

"It's nice to have a baby around again, we didn't have Rosie for long until the situation happened." Selena state watching her son as he feeds from her.

"You won't be saying that at three in the morning." Nick says and she lets out a giggle.

 

Joe spent the night alone in his house that night, something nobody had trusted him to do in a while but he did it, slept through the night knowing he will be going to see his daughter the next day. He jumps out the shower wrapping a towel around his middle rushing down the stairs to open the door knowing it will be Demi, he overslept so hadn't even had breakfast yet.

"Daddy!" He hears as he picks her up holding her against his side. "Why you wet?" She questions moving her hand of his chest wiping it down her pants.

"I went in the shower." Joe states putting her on the ground allowing Demi to walk in.

"Hi Joe, you okay?" Demi questions.

"Yeah, I'm just gonna get dressed you can go through to the living room , I'll only be a minute." He says making his way up the stairs as they make their way into the living room.

 

Joe passes Demi and Rosie a drink before taking a seat on the couch himself passing Rosie the controls to the TV to put something on that she would like. He hopes to get to know her a bit better, to know what her likes and dislikes are, then he may even be able to have her for a couple of days. He knows Demi won't like it but eventually he wants her to live with him permanently, he'd never stop Demi from ever seeing her but after all she is his daughter.

"Do you know when Sel and Cater can go home?" Demi questions rubbing the rim of her drink.

"I think my parents are picking them up today, they haven't met him yet so going today." Joe explains.

"There was nothing wrong with him really so I wouldn't think they'd keep him for too long." Demi states. She still one day wishes she can have a baby, she thought with Zac. She is slowly getting over the fact that she won't see Zac again and completely understands why he left her, she just wishes they would have figured something out, she was willing to compromise if he was.

"Did you find the note and picture in the bunny?" Joe questions making Demi's eyes furrow together in confusion, he chuckles slightly.

"I found a note but not a picture." Demi explains.

"In the other leg there was a picture of the first day she was born." Joe reveals.

"Yeah I didn't find that." Demi admits.

 

"Will you be able to sew it back up?" Joe questions Demi nodding her head, he grabs the rabbit undoing the stitching carefully with his teeth Rosie to occupied on the TV to notice that he is pulling her rabbit apart. He only undoes the stitches enough so he can pull out a crumpled piece of paper, he puts the rabbit back next to his daughter unfolding the paper looking down at the picture. It was Megan laid on the bed moments after Rosabella was born holding onto her as Joe was at the side. Denise being the one who took their first and last family picture together. Joe passes her the photo holding back the tears welling up in his eyes.
