It was a couple of days later when Rosabella was released from the hospital after they did some observations on her just to double check she was type one diabetic. Turns out she is and now has to be taught how to prevent herself from dying, not that they told her it in that way. They didn't need to show Joe how to take her blood sugar because Nick would be there, now Demi will be staying with Sel and Nick for a little bit longer so Rosie can ask him any questions she wishes to. Joe picks up Rosie making her legs wrap around the side of his body her feet not quite reaching each other. Joe wonders out of the hospital room holding onto Demi's hand with the hand he isn't holding Rosie with.
"You feel better now princess?" Demi questions looking up at her daughter. Rosie nods her head gently giving her a small smile.
"Loads better, can we go for ice cream?" She questions which makes both Joe and Demi let out a small sigh.
"I'm sorry baby girl, you have to watch what you eat now." Joe says making the little girl frown and bury her head in the nape of his neck. Joe only lets go of his daughter to help her strap into the car which Nick and Sel had ready for them. Joe climbs in next to his daughter Demi filling up the car by sitting next to Joe.
"Everyone in?" Nick questions.
"Yep." Everyone replies signalling Nick to pull off the street after looking for oncoming traffic which there was none.
They all wonder into the house besides Selena who will be going to her mother's to collect Carter since there was not enough room in the car to take him as well. Joe follows Nick and Demi having hold of Rosie who is a bit grouchy because of the ice cream situation. Joe sits down on a chair sitting her down on his knee as Nick places some equipment in front of them making Rosie a little scared, Joe holds onto her a little tighter making her feel a little bit safer. Demi can't help but smile seeing them together, she knows he is a great dad and will be as she grows up and with any children he may have in the future. Nick begins showing Rosie what to do to take her blood sugar so she can get used to seeing it, Joe or Demi will probably do it at first but will encourage her to have a go herself and just supervise.
"Why does it hurt when you press the button?" Rosie questions.
"Because a needle stabs you so you bleed, you need some blood so it can test what your blood sugar is." Nick explains in the best way he could think of.
"What is my blood sugar?" Rosie asks just in time for a beep to come off the machine, Nick looks down at it reading the very clear numbers.
"5.4 which is just right." Nick explains.
"Why can't me have ice cream then?" Rosie questions Joe smiling slightly, all she wants it ice cream, she's not too bothered about what had gone on over the past couple of days. He's probably done enough worrying for her as well.
"Because then it would go up." Demi explains.
"We'll try and find some low sugar ice cream for you to have okay?" Joe questions Rosie nodding her head gently falling back into her father a little more, he squeezes her making her squeal. They all smile at the laughter of the little girl. Joe stands up sitting Rosie back on the chair so she can spend some more time with her Uncle. Joe and Demi sit down on the couch soon finding each other's arms tangling up.
"You okay now?" Demi questions Joe nodding his head gently.
"Yeah, she's perfectly fine," Joe begins then carries on. "It will just take some getting used to, having to do her blood sugar before we can eat at night."
"I know but we'll get through it." Demi says before they share a kiss.
