Episode 26- Five simple words

Sorry it took a while, been a bit busy

“Joe why did you pay for my ice-creams yesterday?” Demi questioned, sitting at her desk as she once again found Joe already waiting for her.

            Sel would buzz when the hypnotist arrives and Demi thought she’d simply just talk to Joe for a couple of minutes, if he would answer her.

“That wasn’t me,” Joe told me, staring at me blankly.

“Yes it was Joe, and why did you buy my daughter that doll?” Demi asked him yet another question, “Thanks by the way.”

“My daughter,” Joe muttered, repeating the words that Demi said.

“What was that?” Demi questioned, not quite hearing Joe but he shook his head.

            Well it looked like that was the end of that conversation. Suddenly a buzz filled the room and Demi shouted entry for them. Nick, Sel and another woman walked in. Joe was relaxing quietly on the recliner and the hypnotist watched him as his eyes met hers.

“Are you the hypnotist?” he asked.

            She nodded and she produced one simple pocket watch. Joe couldn’t help but sniggered but followed her instructions as she swung the clock in front of him. Demi watched in fascination as slowly Joe’s eye became droopy and they shut his mind now for everyone to see.

“Now Joe,” Demi started, getting up from her chair and moving towards Joe, “Can you tell us what’s on your mind please?”

“Megan………………died………………” Sel gasped and Demi turned to her.

“What, what’s wrong?” Demi questioned.

“He’s telling us the story of what happened four years ago, how he lost his girlfriend how he lost his daughter,” Sel explained looking down.

“Fight…………………Nick’s fault…………………Rosabella gone…………… can’t live without her…………… head hurts………………hearts broken……………My Rosabella,” Joe stuttered for a while before tears left his eyes and he started to cry in his sleep.

“You never told me you handed Rosabella over to that woman,” Sel didn’t take her eyes from the floor.

“I honestly don’t remember it,” Nick muttered, “Megan’s dad blamed Joe for the death of his daughter and wanted both him and Rosabella dead. I handed her to the girl and she ran for her life, I was so thankful she was there that day. I don’t know what would’ve happened if she didn’t run. She saved all of our lives,” tears trickled down Nick’s face and Sel hugged him as she cried too.

            Demi wiped her own tear that was falling and opened her phone. She looked at a picture of Rosabella and her on the beach from a year ago, she couldn’t help but smile and she scrolled through her contacts to find her mom. Everyone was too occupied to notice her on the phone and her mom picked up immediately.

“Hello, what’s wrong Demi?” Dianna questioned.

“Can you bring Rosabella down?” she requested, wiping another tear away.

“Why?” She inquired.

“I think I’ve found Rosabella’s father,” Demi explained.

“I’m on my way,” her mother told her before hanging up.

            Demi approached Joe who had been brought out of the trance and was sleeping peacefully on the recliner. She bent to his ear and a shaky breath left her lips.

“I know where she is.”
