Rosabella screamed and ran along the path towards the beach, Demi on her tail, calling her to stop and when she did and Demi caught up to her, a long sigh left Demi’s lips.
“Rosabella, what have I told you about running off,” Demi lectured, “You must always stay in Mommy’s sight.”
“Oh live a little,” Joe interrupted, coming in to view and scooping his daughter up into his arms, “What’s going to hurt Rosie here?”
“I don’t know, have you not seen the vast amount of water that stretches out for miles,” Demi started sarcastically, “She doesn’t know how to swim Joe, you have to be more careful until you know every little detail such as that about her.”
“Well I’ll teach her how to swim,” Joe smiled before running towards the ocean with Rosie’s little legs by the side of her.
Demi watched the two of them as Joe removed his shirt and shoes and helped Rosabella with her things and also armbands. It’s been a week since Carter and Sel were released from hospital and they decided that we would take a trip to the beach as it’s been such a long time since they last went. All week Joe has been over ruling Demi’s rule that she’s laid down as a parent and it was beginning to bug her. Why does he overrule everything that Demi says? Why does he get to decide what rules her daughter listens too? Rosabella might off been his first but she’s been with Demi a lot longer than he has known Joe.
Demi plopped down onto the sand and crossed her arms as she watched Joe and Rosabella frolicking in the water; the sound of Rosie’s laughter was audible from all the way where Demi had settled down. Sel sits down next to Demi with Carter bundled in her arms, her eyes were on Carter but she was still well aware of the crappy mood that was filling Demi.
“What’s wrong?” Sel inquired, fussing over Carter as he giggled excessively at her.
“Joe, he thinks that he can overrule my rules just because Rosie is biologically his, it’s really annoying me,” Demi groaned, “Am I making a big deal about nothing?”
“Why don’t you just tell him how you feel,” Sel suggested, “And why am I giving advice to psychologist?”
Demi laughed before stating, “It’s kind of ironic really isn’t, yeah I’ll just live with it, it should be okay soon. It’s probably just because I’m not used to it, yeah that’s right, it’s just that.”
“You’re talking to yourself Demi,” Nick laughed, “It’s the first sign of madness.”
Demi shrugged and returned to watching her daughter in the water as she also giggled excessively at her dad as she encouraged her to swim to him. That was something she was supposed to teach her when she got the chance, she’s just been so busy with Joe and work and without Zac, er. Life has been so hectic for her.
“Why couldn’t things be easier?” Demi muttered quietly before standing up and removing her shorts and top before heading over towards Joe and Rosabella.
The water was cool and a smile reached Demi’s lips and she approached her daughter who was swimming with her father.
“Look at me mommy, I’m swimming!”
“Well done,” I cheered scooping her up and placing her on my hip.
“Mommy,” Rosie drawled and I turned to her.
“Yes honey,” I smiled.
“Can I sleep at Daddy’s tonight?”
