“Morning,” Demi grumbled after she padded into the kitchen.

Joe studied his girlfriend quickly as she wiped her tired eyes and noticed than that she had a rough night sleep.

“What’s wrong babe?” Joe inquired, “You look worse than I do and you didn’t have to get up seven times in the night to take Rosie to the bathroom. I swear it was like having her as a baby again.”

“She went to the toilet seven times?” Demi’s eyes widened and Joe nodded.

“Why she didn’t go to you I don’t know?” Joe admitted, running a hand through his hair.

“Where is she?” Demi questioned, pouring herself a steaming mug of coffee form the machine.

“Still in bed,” Joe told her.

“Still? She went to bed at seven and its eleven now, she’s been asleep for sixteen hours? Something isn’t right,” Demi stood up and was about to head upstairs but Joe wrapped his arms around her waist, stopping her from continuing forward.

“Don’t forget how much she drunk last night; it’s probably just that why she was up seven times in the night. She’s probably still in bed because she’s tired and hasn’t slept straight through,” Joe reassured his girlfriend.

“That’s a lot of Probable’s and I’m not taken that risk with our daughter,” Demi wiggled out of his grip and ran up the stairs taking them two at a time.

She found her daughter just waking up, rubbing her eyes excessively.

“Mommy, I feel sick,” she groaned to me, clutching her lower stomach.

Demi scooped Rosie up and balanced her on her hip and studied her expression for a while. She was fiddling with her lips and Demi watched her cautiously.

“What’s wrong with your lip?” Demi asked, wiping the sweat from her forehead.

Something was definitely wrong.

“Pins and needles,” she explained with two words as her head drooped onto my shoulder.

“Do you want breakfast?” Demi questioned her daughter, “Or do you want to go back to bed?”

“Food,” she replied with one word.

She had a frown on her face and looked extremely grumpy, Demi placed her on the floor and she walked carefully down the stairs, steadying herself at different points. Demi was behind her, watching her carefully. But before Rosie had reached Joe she collapsed in a heap on the floor.

“Oh my God!” Sel cried.

“What just happened?” Nick questioned.

“Quick call an ambulance,” Joe stressed, chucking his phone to Sel who dialled the number quickly.

Joe scooped his daughter up, tears filling his eyes and laid her on the kitchen counter. Her eyes were droopy but she was still with them but Joe was worried her was going to loose her. He only just got her back.

“What happened?” Nick asked again.

“She was complaining of a tingly lip, she was sweaty, weak, shaky,” Demi rushed out, trying to control her tears.

“She’s gone into a hypo,” Nick mumbled.

“A what now?” Demi inquired.

“She’s diabetic,” Joe gasped, “It explains so much.”

Nick threw open all the cupboards until he came across a fizzy drink. He helped his niece to drink some of it before grabbing some bread for her to eat.

“It’s here,” Sel came running in to find her fiancé taking her niece’s blood sugar, “What’s going on?”

“She’s diabetic,” Nick revealed, “Type one, just like me.”
