Shift in Sound || A Jemi Love Story

Episode 35- In the end.

Joe sets Rosie on the couch switching the TV onto SpongeBob knowing that it is her favourite show at the moment, though it will soon change. He then follows everyone else upstairs separating when they get to the top, Selena and Nick going into their room to feed and lay Carter down Joe and Demi wondering into Joe's room where they will have a talk which Demi is really nervous about. Joe lays down on his bed rolling himself into the duvet so he is cocooned in the middle making Demi laugh a little bit.

"Aren't you hot?" Demi questions taking a seat on the desk chair. Joe shakes his head tightening the duvet around him so he is wedged. He always liked doing this even when he was a small child, he just grew up doing it and doubt it will ever stop him feeling safe and secure.

"Sorry about earlier, I didn't mean to kiss you." Joe states wanting to get straight to the point.

"It's fine, sorry for slapping you and printing my ring on your cheek." Demi states making him laugh slightly, he hadn't seen it but if it's still there it just proves that Demi had slapped him as hard as he thought she had done.

"Do you really feel like I'm ruining the rules you set out for Rosie?" Joe questions Demi sighing nodding her head clearly. "Sorry."

"It's okay, I guess I just don't want you to confuse her on what she can and can't do." Demi states not looking at him, he's watching her every move though trying to figure out what she thinks of him, he understands how she must be feeling, him pushing away and rules she had laid down as her parent. There is something he wants though more than anything but he thinks it's too soon to ask for that. For him to have his name on her birth certificate. Rosie was born at home and never really got recorded as a birth so he presumes Demi had done that after she got handed her.

"I guess I always saw myself as a fun parent, I'll try my best to calm down a bit." Joe says making Demi feel a little bit better.

"Did you love her?" Demi questions biting her tongue beginning to regret saying that, Joe just becomes confused on who she means. She knows how much Rosie means to him already so of course he loves her, how he was acting before proved that enough.

"Who?" He questions worried about what she is about to say next, Demi takes a deep breath before answering his question.

"Megan." She states making Joe sigh looking down at the floor. He loved that girl more than anything, he never felt so lonely when she died even though he still had plenty of people around him. That was the start of everything, everything just went downhill once Rosie went missing.

"More than anything, she was my world and she loved me for me and not the person everyone wanted me to be." Joe states unrolling himself from the duvet tears rolling softly down his cheeks as he makes his way into the bathroom locking the door behind him.

"Joe?" Demi questions walking to the door but she gets no answer. She sinks down onto the door her back leaning against the closed door her hands finding their way up to her head holding it gently. She felt as if she should stay there listening to the sobs on the other side of the door as her punishment for making him feel like that. She felt as if she needed to stay ready for when he came out begging for comfort. She wanted to be the one to comfort him and not anybody else. Hearing his sobs on the other side of the door showed her how much he did love that girl wishing she would be able to bring her back to him. She's a physiatrist and helped out so many people before including the guy on the other door yet she never knows what to tell people who had experienced losing someone they care about. She never lost anyone she was close to. Demi finds herself back on her feet wondering over to the bed climbing on top of it cocooning herself in the duvet like Joe was just a couple of minutes ago instantly knowing what Joe means by him feeling safe. The world could come to a holt yet she would feel as if she would survive cocooned in the duvet. She will wait here feeling safe until Joe comes out of that bathroom ready to hold him in her arms telling him everything will be okay in the end.
