Episode 70- Home again

"I was so scared Joe!" Demi sighed, nestling her head into the crook of Joe's neck and absorbing his scent. 

Joe blinked a couple of times as he brought himself back into the world, dazed and confused but when he saw his girlfriend he sighed, knowing everything was okay. 

"I'm alright, I wasn't going down without a fight," Joe chuckled but groaned and clutched his chest when it hurt. 

"The doctor said you would be sore from when you fell front first onto the concrete," Demi explained and Joe nodded his head carefully, "Anyway, where were you and what were you doing when  you were shot."

"It's a long story, be patient and I'll tell you it when I feel a bit better, I just really need to get out of here, I hate hospitals," Joe shuddered slightly and Demi couldn't help but smile and shake her head at her boyfriend. 

"Let's go home then." 

"You'll never guess what!" Demi started excitedly as she helped Joe out of the car, "Zac's back, he came when you were shot yesterday and you wouldn't believe how glad I was too see him. He has a wife and two kids now."

"I thought he couldn't have kids," Joe began, slotting his arms through the crutched he would have to be on for a while. 

"Single mother," Demi explained, opening the door for both her and her boyfriend who slowly hobbled in, "We're home!" 

"Daddy!" The sound of Rosabella's shout filled the house and thunder appeared on the stairs as she darted down. 

She jumped in front of him and carefully hugged the leg which wasn't bandaged. Joe scuffed her hair and she pouted before looking up at her dad. 

"I missed you," she told him and Joe smiled. 

"I missed you too Rosie," a boy appeared behind her and Joe's attention flew to him, "Who's your friend?" 

Rosie's cheeks grew red immediately as she turned to see the boy before telling her dad, "This is Mason, old daddy's boy." 

Joe nodded his head, "Do you fancy going to the park, I really need some fresh air." 

They all agreed and Rosie beckoned for her mother so she could speak to her in private. Demi followed her upstairs, leaving Joe baffled and talking to Zac and catching up on things. When they arrived, Rosie sat on her bed and started to fiddle with her hair. 

"Do you know where my favourite dress is?" she inquire her mother and Demi caught on, understanding instantly. 

"You have a crush on Mason, don't you," Demi grinned at her daughter as the blood rushed to her cheeks quicker than before. 

"No, I just want my favourite dress and can you put my hair in pig tails," she gave one of her girlish laughs to cover her words and Demi shook her head. 

"Off course, your dress is hung up in the wardrobe, I'll go find your favourite headband," Demi suggested to her daughter who nodded eagerly and sprinted off towards the mahogany wardrobe, "How sweet." 

Demi helped to assist her daughter to get ready and when they arrived downstairs they set off down the road towards the local park. Demi watched Joe carefully as he grew to use his crutches and Joe was debating how to tell his girlfriend the truth of how he really got shot? How could he tell her that he's trying to prove her abusive dads innocence?
