I was reading in my room in Wammy's House when my boyfriend Mello came barging in.

"L is dead and I'm leaving. I just came to say goodbye."

"What? You're joking right?"

"Yes Y/N, I'm joking that L is dead and I'm leaving," He spat back bitterly and stormed out.

I dropped my book in shock and chased after him.

"Mello, wait!" I shouted.

"No, I'm going!" He shouted back and hurried on.

I followed him all the way outside and I was getting mad now.

"Mello, get the fuck back here! Don't you dare leave me!"

He ignored me and strode towards to his little moped. (He'd stolen it and hid it from the staff) He jumped on and drove off without looking back, while I stood there, hysterical by then. I turned and ran to Matt's room.

"Matt, Mello is gone, he's gone!" I sobbed and felt into his arms.

He held me to comfort me as I told him what had just happened. Mello hadn't even said goodbye to Matt. The door opened and Matt's girlfriend DemonKrys came in. A look of hurt, then anger crossed her face. Matt didn't let go of me, just explained.

"Mello has left! For good."

Krys rushed over to comfort me too, they both held me as I cried my little heart out.

*Timeskip*

A few years later we all left Wammy's House. Matt and Krys were still dating and moved in together. I got a small flat on my own and did a few jobs through Wammy's to pay the rent. I still missed Mello every second of the day, I was depressed and had tried therapy but therapy couldn't bring him back. I hadn't heard so much as a word from him since he left and I was still heartbroken. I'd never not known or loved him, and I'd never imagined a life without him. I'd thought he felt the same but obviously I was wrong. I wasn't interested in dating anyone else, I just wanted him back.

Matt rang me one day and literally screamed my name down the phone. He was usually so calm that I got a fright until he yelled that Mello had gotten in touch. He wanted us to travel to Japan to meet him.

"Are you coming?" Matt asked.

"Of course I am!" I yelled.

Mello hadn't given him a contact number, just an address. Matt sorted out flights while I quickly packed, he and Krys arrived to collect me in less than an hour. I couldn't relax on the flight, I was so anxious to get there, I kept rapping my knuckles on the arms of my seat. Eventually we arrived and got a taxi straight to Mello's place. He opened the door and I threw myself into his arms. He held me close and I cried on his shoulder. Matt cleared his throat after a few minutes and we moved aside to let him and Krys in.

"We'll just go unpack or something," Matt said and they left us alone. I knew how much they wanted to see him again too so I appreciated their thoughtfulness.

"I missed you," Mello said softly.

I punched him in the arm.

"Why did you leave me then?! Why haven't you called until now?!"

"I'm sorry. I didn't want to get you mixed up in the stuff I was doing."

"I wouldn't have cared! I needed you."

"I know but - I mean mafia stuff."

"You were in the mafia?"

"Yeah, I was kind of the leader. Until I blew the place up. That's how I got this," He pointed to the left side of his face which was all scarred.

"Do you think I'm ugly now?" He asked.

"Never."

I put my arms back around him.

"Never," I repeated.

He pulled me closer and kissed me.

"I love you Mello, I'll always love you."

He smiled and I started laughing.

"What?"

"You're still as crazy as ever."

"Sorry."

"No, it's a compliment. Just don't leave me again."

"I won't, I promise."

Matt and Krys came back in and we celebrated our reunion, then we defeated Kira and spent the rest of our lives together.
