[In which Mello loses his mind and becomes a nice person. Well, killing aside]

My boss Mello pulled me aside at work, I thought I was in trouble but instead he asked if I was ok. He seemed genuinely concerned and mentioned how I seemed different lately, quieter and often looked sad. I was confused as to why he was being so nice and also why he was interested enough in me to even notice those things. I mean this is Mello, he's not exactly sensitive about other's feelings. I denied anything was wrong at first but eventually told him the truth.

"I kind of a had a thing with this guy, but then he dumped me, even admitted he'd only used me and warned me not to tell anyone. Like he was too ashamed of me."

"Was it someone here?" Mello asked. He looked mad as hell.

"Um well I'm not meant to say," I mumbled.

"Just tell me," He demanded.

"It was TJ. But don't say anything, he'll only hate me more."

"I won't say anything," He told me seriously. "And don't let him get to you anymore. You deserve better."

He gave me a quick hug and walked off, I stared after him in surprise. When did Mello become Mr Nice Guy?

The next morning, Rod announced that TJ wouldn't be coming back. I looked at Mello and he smiled at me, rather smugly. I asked to speak to him after the morning meeting.

"You didn't tell him him to leave, did you, Mello?"

"No, I killed him."

"You did what?!"

"Hey, no one disrespects you like that and gets away with it. Ok Y/N?"

He placed a hand on my shoulder and waited a moment but I was speechless.

XXX

That afternoon I was chatting with one of the guys, just having a bit of a laugh. I hadn't laughed in a while, it felt good. That was until I noticed Mello watching us and giving the guy a total death stare. By that same evening, the guy had "left" too.

I grabbed Mello aside.

"Mello!" I hissed. "Was this your doing as well?"

He folded his arms and smiled smugly again, "Yes."

"Why? What's wrong with you?!"

"There's nothing wrong with me, only with those guys."

"But I was only talking to him."

"You looked too friendly with him for my liking. So I disposed of him."

He shrugged like it was nothing, which I guess to him it wasn't, if it had been for any other reason.

"I'll protect you from now on," He said, reaching out to carress my face.

I slapped his hand away, "I don't need your protection."

"Well I still need to protect you. Now get back to work."

I tried to work but he kept watching me so I asked to speak to Rod privately.

"I want to leave. I want to leave now." I told him.

"You know you can't leave, you know too much. I'd kill you first."

"Then kill me, that would be better than this."

"What exactly is the problem, Y/N?"

"It's Mello, he's acting all weird and creepy."

"That's just Mello," He shrugged.

"No, not like usual. Like really freaky!"

The door opened and Mello walked in.

"I'm weird and creepy?"

"Yes!"

"Why do you hate me?"

"Mello, everyone hates you. You're not a nice person, in fact you're a literal asshole douchebag."

He seemed hurt and as if this was new information to him.

"Why do you suddenly care about me anyway?" I asked.

"BECAUSE I LOVE YOU!" He shouted.

"What?" Rod and I both asked.

"It's true!" He got down on one knee in front of me and held his hand out. "Please be my girlfriend."

"Oh my God, NO! You see what I mean, Rod?"

"Jesus Y/N, give the guy a break," Rod said.

"That's it, I'm done with this conversation! You're both just being weird now," I threw my hands up and walked out of the room.

"This isn't over! I will make you love me!" Mello shouted after me.

"Why me?!" I yelled as I rejoined the other mafia members. "Why did Satan have to make me so beautiful?!"

*Timeskip*

Mello had actually been really nice to me ever since the "incident." One day he kept looking at me then chewing on his thumb thoughtfully.

"Are you ok Mello?" I finally asked him.

"No, you still don't love me," He pouted and I surpressed a smile, he looked kind of adorable.

"Well I'm sorry."

"But I killed people for you," He whined.

"That doesn't make you more attractive."

His eyes lit up at my words.

"More attractive? So you think I'm attractive?"

"That's not - well ok fine, you're attractive, Mello. But I'm still not going to date you."

His face fell again. The poor thing. Truthfully, I was warming to the idea of dating him. When he was horrid he was horrid, but when he was nice he was really nice. And he was damn attractive. I took a deep breath and made my decision.

"Ok Mello, we'll go on a date."

"WHAT?!" He almost fell off his seat. "Do you mean it?"

"Yes, I'll give you a chance," He looked so happy I couldn't help smiling and he smiled back. I hadn't seen him smile often and I liked it.

"You look better when you smile than when you're angry," I told him. "You should smile more often."

"Oh ok," He said and smiled again.

Damn, this boy was already whipped.

Rod Ross walked by just then.

"What's up with you two?" He asked.

"Nothing, we're going on a date," I told him.

"Is he forcing you to go?" He threw a warning look at Mello.

"No, I asked him."

He shook his head. "Whatever, I can't keep up with you," He said as he walked away.

"I hope Mello can keep up with me," I smirked and Mello squealed.

And then we dated like forever.

[Omg this book is almost at 200 parts, do I really love him that much? One day I'll look back and think "Wtf" well I'm already thinking it] 😁
